She was the daughter of the late Junius M. Rogers and Alice Spencer Mudd Rogers, who moved to Brooksville from Kentucky at the turn of the century. Born and raised in Brooksville, Rogers was a graduate of what is now Florida State University where she received a bachelors degree in social work and was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. Following two years of work in Jacksonville, Rogers enrolled at Columbia University in New. York City and spent several years in that area pursuing a career in social work. As a Young adult, she returned to Hernando County to manage her father's department store in downtown Brooksville. Once home, Rogers became very active in local politics and served as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 1960 where John F. Kennedy received the party's nomination for president of the United States. In 1958, Rogers joined! a group of local business people to found the First Federal Savings and Loan which is today AM South Bank. As a member of the Junior Service League, she worked with Jessie May Fridy Hatfield to establish the first Hernando County Fair. She was also involved in the creation of the Brooksville Country Club. After the death of her father, Rogers closed the department store to become Vice President of Rogers Christmas House Village. To honor her parents, Rogers created annual scholarships at Florida Southern University, one in music in memory of her mother and another in business in memory of her father. Survivors include her sister, Margaret Rogers Ghiotto of Brooksville, Florida; a nephew; Weiland Rogers and his wife Carol of Brooksville; a niece, Alice Stonaker of Rhode Island; cousins Dorothy Harbor, Francis Seibert and Jo Carol Law and Henry Durham of Brooksville; Bobby Lingle of Maitland; and Nancy Huddleston and Sarah Collins of Greensburg; and Tommy Rogers of Kentucky.! Funeral services were held Saturday, January 2, at the First United M ethodist Church in Brooksville with Rev. Doug Zipperer presiding. He was 94 years, four months and 13 days of age. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Holly Grove Baptist Church. He united in marriage to Miss Annie Mary Milby on March 26, 1923, who survives. He is also survived by one daughter and son-in-law: Essie Marie and Eugene Scott, both of Louisville; two brothers: Tommy Risen of Magnolia and Alton Risen of Louisville; two half-brothers: Rev. Lester Graham of Pikeview and Johnny Graham of Mason City, Illinois; one half-sister: Mae Whitman of New Albany, Indiana; one grandson: Billy Conn Scott of Louisville; one granddaughter: Rebecca Scott of Louisville; one great-grandson: Kristopher Scott of Louisville; and a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral se! rvices for Mr. Ernest "Bernie" Risen were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 20, at the Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home with burial in the Holly Grove Cemetery. Rev. He was born in Green County but lived the greater part of his life in Taylor County. He was the son of the late Robert F. Rucker and Mrs. Blanche Hartfield Rucker, and was a veteran of World War I. He was united in marriage to Estella Sublett. She preceded him in death December 11, 1915. Surviving are three brothers, Cloyd Rucker, Hamilton, Texas, Buell Rucker, Route 1, and G. L. Rucker, Campbellsville; two sisters, Mrs. Nona Kerr, Route 1, Mrs. Etta Rucker, Campbellsville. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, October 27 at the Parrott-Ramsey Funeral Home, Campbellsville by Rev. J. M. Vaughn. Mr. Penick was apparently feeling as well as usual Wednesday and attended a meeting of the Green County Sportsmen's Club that night in the basement of the Deposit Bank here. He lived on the farm of Dr. J. M. Dishman in the Gabe section. He became ill Thursday morning while doing some work on the farm and was on his way here to see a doctor when he died. Perry, 84, a native of Rowletts, Ky., and an uncle of Charlie and Leonard Perry, Greensburg, died last week at St. Mary's Hospital, Port Arthur, Texas, He was taken to the hospital after he suffered a stroke. Mr. Perry was the caretaker of the First Christian Church there. He was the only surviving charter member of Carpenters Local 610, which was organized there some 55 years ago. He had lived in Port Arthur since 1901. He was one of two surviving charter members of the First Christian Church which was formed in 1903. He had been caretaker of the church since retirement as a carpenter 14 years ago. Paxton went to Louisville about 15 months ago to manage the Louisville Prospect Bus Line and operate the Ballard School bus for his uncle, Clement L. Paxton, the owner, who died about a month ago. The son of Hugh Paxton and Mrs. Emma Burress Paxton, he was born in Green County November 15, 1916. He was a member of the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church. He was united in marriage to Miss Flossie Lowe on November 15, 1940. Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Patricia Ann; Martha Lee, and Mary Nancy; his father, Hugh Paxton, one sister, Mrs. Joe Reele of Nashville, Tenn. The victims included his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Pfisterer, 70; his sister, Miss Anna Mae Pfisterer, 45, and his aunt, Mrs. Rosa Haury, 82, all of Louisville. Also killed in the accident were Mrs. Lorraine Miller, 48, Louisville, who was riding in another car. Rev. Fred Pfisterer left Greensburg Monday to be with his father and attend the funeral services. Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Virginia Avenue Methodist Chinch in Louisville. The revival services here at the Methodist Church are being continued by the pastor of the church Rev. E. S. Denton and song leader A. W. Youngblood of Henderson, Ky.
