She was born June 3, 1934, in Greene County, Ky., to Roy and Vivian McKinney Russell. She married Loyie Dean West in Peoria on Sept. 6, 1952. He preceded her in death on June 19, 2003. Surviving are one son, Jerry (Debra) West of Groveland; one daughter, Carolyn (Steve) Nevitt of Oxford, Miss.; four grandchildren, Michelle (Glenn) Decker, Aaron (Melissa) Nevitt, Angela (Eric) Lucas and Renee Nevitt; five great-grandchildren, Faith, Kiersten, Gerald, Kaleb and Ainsley; and two brothers, Willard (Betty) Russell of East Peoria and Max (Margie) Russell of Peoria. Geraldine was a homemaker and a faithful Christian. She was a member of Richland Southern Baptist Church in East Peoria and previously attended Laramie Street Baptist Church in Peoria, where she had many years of service that included being WMU president, church clerk, Sunda! y school teacher and head of the nursery department. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, at Richland Southern Baptist Church in East Peoria, with the Rev. Gary England officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria and 30 minutes before services at the church Thursday. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria. Mr. Rucker, a native of Green County, lived at Loretto and was a retired worker of the old Blair Distilling Company, St. Francis. He was a son of the late Joseph and Nancy Hayes Rucker. His wife, Helen Elizabeth Mattingly Rucker, preceded him in death on June 18, 1966. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Ruby Mae Rowe, Pleasant Ridge Park, and Mrs. Rubalene Harrell, Bardstown; and two sons, Algeon Thomas Rucker, Jr., Route 1, Loretto and Charles Wayne Rucker, Route 2, Loretto. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, January 13, at St. Francis of Assisi Church with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. He was born Jan. 9, 1914, to William Preston and Nora Gillie Tartar Blankenship in Greensburg, Ky. He is survived by Juanita Jakway, his wife of 57 years. He married her June 26, 1949, in Danville. Also surviving are his daughters, Juli Benefiel and Jina Green, both of Marshall; four grandchildren, Kyle Benefiel and Jayci and Jesse Green, all of Marshall; and Lindy Benefiel, Charleston; a niece, Juanedith Ann Martin, who he helped raise, and her children: Scott Kelley and Amelia Martin; a special son, Dr. Bart Patel; brother, Lindsay (Mary) Blankenship; sister-in-law, Dorothy Blankenship, Atlanta; nieces and nephews, Nancy (Earl) Grossman, Florida; Mary (Jim) Sunday, Margaret Blankenship, Bill (Carol) Blankenship and David (Melanie) Blankenship, all of Atlanta; Lori (Verle) Auxier and Patty Lynn Cli! ne, both of Lincoln. Omar was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Ware Blankenship, who passed away in 1945; son, David Scott Blankenship; his parents; two brothers, Frank and Claude; and sister, Pauline Holman, all of Atlanta. He moved to Illinois when he was very young and graduated from Atlanta High School. He went to pharmacy school in Chicago, where he also became a lifelong Cubs fan. He was also a veteran of World War II in the Army medical division. He spent 1942 to 1946 at various locations in Colorado, Camp Hale with the ski troop and as an X-ray tech at Fitzimmons Hospital in Denver, Colo. He attained the rank of sergeant. He owned and operated a pharmacy in Atlanta for five years prior to owning Blankenship Drug Store for 36 years in Marshall. For a few years after retiring, he was a relief pharmacist for several pharmacies in the county. He also began a hobby of oil-painting and continued to follow horse racing as he had raised, bred and raced Standardbred! horses since the mid-1950s. He liked to work and continued to mow his yards until he was 90 years old. He enjoyed sitting outside and waving to his neighbors as they drove by. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 90, Marshall Chapter of Eastern Star No. 739, Masonic Lodge No. 133, Scottish Rite of Danville and Arnid Shriners of East St. Louis. A funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Pearce Funeral Home, Marshall, with the Revs. David Deal and James Tinzman officiating. Visitation will be 7 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The family will be present at the visitation after noon Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Marshall Cemetery, with military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post No. 597 and Clark Co. Post No. 90 of the American Legion. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children or to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Lillie has eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Lillie was born in Green County, KY on August 25, 1915. Preceding her in death was her special love of 67 years, Rev. Leon C. Atwell. Together, they pastored The Congregation at the Shartel Church of God for 25 years. Their joy was in service to others. They traveled the world and enjoyed time with family and friends. The family would like to thank caregiver Maria Melton, Karen Kindley, MD, Lawrence Deck, III MD, Mercy Hospice, and Crossing Church for their unlimited gifts.
