Born August 6, 1872, he was 78 years old. His ancestors were pioneer settlers in this county, having come here four generations ago from Amelia County, Virginia, where an earlier ancestor, Samuel Thompson, had settled when he came to this country from England. On December 28, 1909, he was in marriage to Hattie Ann Royse who survives him. Obituaries of Green Co. He was the son of the late Rev. Luther Turner, Jr. and Pearl Grant Turner of Columbia, who survives. Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Hallie Turner, in 1984. Besides his mother, he is survived by two daughters: Tina Stone of Chicago, Illinois, and Brenda Penn of Mesquite, Texas; a special friend, Alice Venema; one brother, Leon Turner of Columbia; two sisters, Regina Nicholson of Seymour, Indiana, and Louise (Sam) Thompson of Greensburg; two grandchildren, Kaley Elizabeth and Joseph Elliot. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Mr. Turner was an engineer for Pullman Industries where he was the senior tool and die engineer; He was a member of the Bloomingdale Christian Church. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 26, at 1:00 p.m. at Stotts-Phelps-McQ! ueary Funeral Home with interment in the Haven Hill Cemetery. Rev. Bill Napp will officiate. Gupton in the Ebenezer community at 12:30 am Wed 14 Jan after a brief illness of pneumonia, at the age of 82. The son of the late Miskel Taylor and Mrs. Margaret Arnett Taylor, he was born in Green Co., 20 Dec 1870. He was a member of the Mt. Lebanon Methodist Church. He was united in marriage to Miss Roberta Hines some 60 years ago. She preceded him in death November, 1938. To this union one son and three daughters were born. Surviving are: Mrs. E. E. Gupton, Mrs. Evie Perkins, both of Green County; two brothers, Linzie Taylor, Pleasant Plains, IL., Albert Taylor, Louisville; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p m. Thursday at the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, with Rev. V.A. Jones in charge. Burial was in the Curry cemetery. Pallbearers were Jerome Loy, William D. Strader, Eugene Bass, Loren Bass, Lilburn Kelly, G. W. Dewitt. Honorary pallbearers wer! e W. A.
