She professed faith in Christ at an early age and lived a true christian. She was loved by all who knew her, and her passing has been a loss to the community in which she lived. She is survived by her husband Noah White and one sister Miss Sarah Noe. Mrs. White had suffered with a lingering illness of many months but until the last she bore with a smile. He was 84 years, four months and six days of age. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Fri St. Nazarene Church in Clearwater. He united in marriage to Miss Lillian Hall on October 16, 1928, who survives. To this union were born three daughters: Marcella Hall, Huntsville, Alabama; Hortence Milby, Palm Harbor, Florida, and Beulah Parsons, Louisville. He is also survived by two brothers: Ovel Warren, Greensburg, and Buckner Dobson, Louisville; two sisters: Ollie Payne, Campbellsville and Erna Wheat Sidebottom, Greensburg; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral services for Mr. Vernon Warren were conducted at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 12, at the Cowher! d and Parrott Funeral Home with burial in the Summersville Memory Gardens Cemetery. Rev. Mrs. Vaughn who lived at 129 East College, was on her way home from the grocery store when she stopped on the sidewalk to wait for traffic to clear before crossing the street. She was hit and knocked to the pavement by an automobile which had just collided with another car. She died a few minutes later of a skull fracture and internal injuries. It was reported she was knocked 18 feet into the street, where her husband, who heard the crash from his home nearby, found her a short time later. Before going to Louisville Mrs. Vaughn lived in the Hudgins community. Funeral services were conducted here at 2:00 pm Sunday at the Keltner and Bennett Funeral Home. Burial was in the Aetna Grove Cem. She is survived by her husband, Dillard Vaughn; a son, Arthur Nelson Vaughn; a brother, Claude McCubbin of Hudgins, Ky; and 3 sisters, Mrs. Beulah Bennett, Mrs. ! Mr. and Mrs. Vaughn were returning home from Louisville where he had gone for a check-up when he was stricken. He was taken to the hospital where he died at 7:00 pm. He had been in ill health for some time, and retired as postmaster here in 1954. He served as Postmaster 21 years, from 1933 to 1954. Mr. Vaughn was one of the county's outstanding farmers, and served one term as magistrate from his district. He was a member of the Greensburg Presbyterian Church. The son of the late Early Vaughn and Mrs. Claudie Henry Vaughn, he was born in Green Co. 3 Dec 1899. Besides his wife, Mrs. Lillian Perkins Vaughn, he is survived by 1 son, James Allen Vaughn; 2 daughters, Miss Mary Ann Vaughn, Greensburg, and Mrs. Margaret Greene, Flushing, N. Y.; One sister, Mrs. S. D. Hutcheson, and five grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday at the! Greensburg Presbyterian Church with Rev. J. V. Case in charge, assisted by Rev. V. A. Green County Review; Winter 2004, p. 6 GREENSBURG, KENTUCKY POSTOFFICE Greensburg the county seat of Green County was established in 1794 on the northern bank of Green River and as shown by a marker within the town limits is the center of the State of Kentucky. It now has a population of approximately 2000. Its many modern stores, offices and places of business are still clustered around or in close proximity to its old stone court house, the oldest west of the Allegheny mountains, built in 1803 by Walter Bullock of Fayette County on the site of Glover's Station, one of the settlements in Green County also among the first settlements in Kentucky. Near by stands the old stone building that housed the Branch of the Commonwealth Bank of Kentucky 1835-1852. This building was also erected by Walter Bullock. Greensburg's post office was established June 1, 1807. John Barrett serving as first Postmaster. Mr. Barrett later resided in Louisville, Kentucky. The present post office became a second class office July 1, 1944. Ralph E. Vaughn present postmaster became acting postmaster July 15, 1933. He has with him at this time to serve the public a personnel of three regular and one substitute clerk; seven star routes and one rural route leave this office serving the post offices and the citizens of the county. Milby and Mrs. Daisy Marcum Milby, was born June 25, 1918, in Green County and departed this life on Tuesday, December 28, 1999, at the Barren County Health Care Center in Glasgow. She was 81 years, six months and three days of age. She attended the Summersville Baptist Church and was also a member of the Greensburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She united in marriage to Mr. Frank Vaughn on January 22, 1938, who survives. Mrs. Vaughn is also survived by a son and daughter-in-law: James and Velma Vaughn of Bowling Green; a daughter and son-in-law: Betty and Tom Davis of Glasgow; a brother: R.C. "Junior" Milby of Summersville; three grandchildren: Bryan Davis of Bowling Green, Anne Davis of Lexington, and Jason Vaughn of Bowling Green; one step-granddaughter: Denise Whitlow of Summersville; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by one sister, Icy Milby. The funeral services for Mrs.! Lula Mae Milby Vaughn were conducted Friday, December 31, 1999, at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home with burial in the Bennett Cemetery. Rev. Marty Thompson officiated. Friday (today), June 26 at the Greensburg Presbyterian Church for Milton A. Vaughn who died Wednesday, June 24 at 6:30 a. m. at the age of 56 years. Rev. V. A. Jones will be in charge of the services, assisted by Rev. E. S. Denton. Burial will be in Greensburg cemetery. Although he had been in ill health for several months, his death came as a shock to his family and many friends. Mr. Vaughn served as Master Commissioner of Green County for 11 years, was Democratic Chairman of the county 17 years, and has been Deputy State Fire Marshal since 1949. The son of the late Early Vaughn, and Mrs. Claude Henry Vaughn, he was born in Green County March 6, 1897. He professed faith in Christ and united with the Presbyterian church in Greensburg where he remained a member until death. He was united in marriage to Miss Edna Hartfield. To this union two sons were born. One son was born by a former marriage. Surviving beside his wife are, Buckne! r Taylor Vaughn, Edenton, N. C., Alfred E. Vaughn, of Illinois, and Milton Vaughn, Jr., Greensburg. He is also survived by his mother, Mrs. Claude Vaughn; one sister, Mrs. Josephine Hutcheson, and one brother, Ralph Vaughn, both of Greensburg; and 4 grandchildren.
