He was a member of the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church in Buffalo, where he served as trustee and church treasurer from 1974-1985. He was a retired farmer, and a LaRue County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation community committeeman for several years. He is survived by his wife, Jane Skaggs Abell; a daughter, Betsy Tucker of Hodgenville; a sister, Linnie Lou Rhodes of Danville, West Virginia; a brother, Roy Lee Abell of Louisville; and two grandsons, Glenn Tucker and Mark Tucker. Funeral services were held Thursday, April 21, at the Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with Rev. Carlos Compton and Rev. Roger Pepper officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. She died Friday, April 14, 2000, in Campbellsville. She was 82 years old. She was instrumental in establishing the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Columbia and the Adair County Public Library. She was a former employee of the Kentucky Cabinet for Human Resources. She united in marriage to Hugh L. Abell on October 16, 1939. He preceded her in death November 11, 1985. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Edwin R and Pat Abell of Campbellsville; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Alyson and Dale Thompson of Summersville and grandson, Shaun Abell of Stanford; two great-grandchildren: Haley Jean Abell of Campbellsville and William Robert Payton Thompson of Summersville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Monday, April 17, at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help! Catholic Church in Campbellsville by Rev. Jack Caldwell. Burial was in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Shaun P. Abell, Bennie Curry, Max Leach, Dale Thompson, Morris Tucker, Jr., and John Waldrop. Rey Yarberry, 81, of Columbia, died at the Clinic Hospital, Thursday at 6:05. A former State Legislator and retired Chief of Detectives of the Louisville Police Department, he had been unconscious at the hospital since Monday afternoon, when he suffered a brain concusion and other injuries in a traffic accident at Columbia. He had lived at Columbia since leaving Louisville in 1934. Surviving is his wife, Mrs. Daisy Eubank Yarberry, who spent part of her girlhood days in Edmonton. He was a member of Brush Creek Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, and attended First Church of God in Campbellsville. He was a farmer and Agricultural Stabilization Conservation Service Board member. He was married to Pauline Elmore in 1941. She preceded him in death on March 2, 1978. He later married Oleda McDaniel Hadley on Dec. 2, 1978. She survives. Survivors also include a daughter and son-in-law, Flora and James Cecil VanArsdale of Green County; a son, James David Curry of Louisville, Ky.; four stepchildren and their spouses, Ronnie and Janice Hadley, Joan Hadley and Marilyn and Scott Martin, all of Campbellsville, and Gary and Sue Hadley of Knifley, Ky.; two grandchildren, C.W. VanArsdale of Green County and Tammy Ransom of Gallatin, Tenn! .; six step-grandchildren, Melissa Shelton of Tennessee, Jason Hadley, Patrick Phillippe, Jaclyn Rakel and Kyle Martin, all of Campbellsville, and Emily Hadley of Wisconsin; three great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by a step-daughter, June Phillippe; two brothers, Ervin Curry and Herbert Curry; and two sisters, Clara Curry and Maud Curry. He died at 7:29 p.m. Thursday, March 6 in Elizabethtown. He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Pitman Valley Baptist Church. He was a member of Edward's O'Banion Post #82 for 29 years and was Commander in 1982. He was a master plumber and owned and operated Dan Watson Plumbing for approximately forty years. He united in marriage to Brenda Jean Drake on September 26, 1961. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Raymond Douglas Watson on July 24, 2001. Besides his wife, Brenda Watson, Campbellsville, he is survived by two sons and one daughter, Carl Watson & wife Rhonda, and Michael Watson & wife Mimi, all of Campbellsville, and Karen Faye Watson, Louisville; six grandchildren, Carla Watson, Aaron Watson, Collin Watson, Hayley Watson, Carson Watson, and Cross Watson, all of Campbellsville; one brother and one sister, Finn Watson and Frances Morris, both of Campbellsville; and several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 10, 2008 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville by Rev. Danny Nelson. Entombment in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens.
