John James Patterson, son of Dick Patterson, jailed for robbing cash drawer in Depot. On April 23 he was sent to the House of Corrections, but made his escape. Got away from Officer. James P. McClure Journal, page 60. Dec. 29, 1911 Leitchfield Gazette: John J. Patterson is the victim of an accident from a pistol which was accidentally discharged in the hands of Dennie Smothers, the bullet entering the left shoulder and ranging toward the right and back. The ball has not been located. At present no fears are felt for the fatality of the accident. While it is a serious wound, there are no complications.
