I don't know that much about your particular line, it is possible that they lived in another state for a time, then moved back to Caneyville. Although I found this info: According to the 1930 Census Caneyville, Grayson Co. KY Guy T. House age 6 was born in Kentucky, he is with his parents: Charles F. House age 37 KY Family # 4/5. Farmer Hettie H. age 36 KY Fred age 17 KY James V. age 15 KY Guy T. age 6 Ky. Note family # 2/2 on the same page is Charles father and (step) mother: House V. T. age 62 KY (Would be Valantine) Mantha age 50 KY Joe 27 KY Howard 17 KY Gracie age 13 Ky Imagine Embery grdaughter 10 Maxine Embery grdau. age 7 ------------------------------------ Valantine "Bud" House was on the census with his aunt's family Delilah House Miller (my 3grGrandmother) in 1870 and 1880, so it appears he was raised by them, I have heard this from others. I am not sure why he was there for such a time, as his parents were still living in the county, they appear on the census there in their own household, James W. House 1820-1901 Ky and Clarissa "Clary" Yaeger b. 1821 PA died aft 1900, 73 years old on the census. Possibly his mother was ill when he was young and he was taken in to his aunt's house and stayed, he worked on the farm when he was a teen. >From my great Aunt's notes: James W. House parents were William D. House born 1782 Georgia d. 1862 and Jane "Jinny" Neal, the daughter of Thomas or Lary Neal. Married Butler, Co. Kentucky Jan 14, 1810. Consent given by Lary Neal. It also said Jane Neal said to be Cherokee Indian, no details. They are buried in the Miller Cemetery outside Caneyville, KY.
