John "Jack" Hayse (Sr.) and Catherine "Catey" Decker. John and Catherine's sons in 1820 are John, Jr., James, Caleb, William and Alexander Caleb Hayse (1841-1934) as the son of James Henry Hayse (1803-aft 1880) and Sarah Gore (ca 1810-aft 1880) and the grandson of John H. Hayse (b. bet 1765-1770) and Catherine "Catey" Decker (b. ca 1775 - d. bet 1830-1840). John and Catey were married 19 Aug 1794 in Mecklenburg County, Kentucky. Caleb was the 6th of their 10 known children.. one of his wives Lena Kinser? Hannah Lewis as another wife. names of all his children? i. CATHERINE ELLEN "KITTY" Hayse, b. Abt. 1829, Grayson County, Kentucky; d. Aft. 1870, then of Grayson County, Kentucky; m. ca 1851 to John Raymer ii. WILLIAM J. HAYSE, b. Abt. 1832, Grayson County, Kentucky. iii. JOHN THOMAS Hayse, b. Abt. 1833, Grayson County, Kentucky; d. Dawson Springs, Kentucky; m. 25 Sep 1854 to Emeline Elder iv. JAMES HENRY Hayse, b. Abt. 1836, Grayson County, Kentucky; m. 25 Sep 1854 to Ethalina Haycraft v. NANCY JANE Hayse, b. Abt. 1838, Grayson County, Kentucky; m. JAMES Haycraft, 28 Jun 1854, Grayson County, Kentucky1; b. Abt. 1831, Grayson County, Kentucky. vi. CALEB Hayse, b. Abt. 1841, Grayson County, Kentucky; d. 23 Oct 1934; m/1. Mary Decker; m/2. Elizabeth before 1880; m/3. Hannah Lewis vii. GEORGE W. HAYSE, b. Abt. 1843, Grayson County, Kentucky; d. Bef. 1900; m. Hannah Gary / Geary viii. SUSANNAH Hayse, b. Abt. 1845, Grayson County, Kentucky. ix. RACHAEL Hayse, b. Abt. Apr 1850, Grayson County, Kentucky. x. TAVNER Hayse, b. Abt. 1853, Grayson County, Kentucky; d. Aft. 1880, then of Grayson County, Kentucky; m. ANNIE L. UNKNOWN; b. Abt. 1858, Kentucky; d. Aft. 1880, then of Grayson County, Kentucky. John, Sr.'s sons in 1830 are Caleb, James T, John, Jr. and William. Son Alex disappeared between 1820 and 1825. He either moved out of Grayson or died. John, Sr. died between 1834 and 1840. Catherine died between 1830 and 1840. James Wesley Hayse was the s/o William Hayse and Nancy Blair and s/o John H. Hayse and Catherine Decker. He was born 11 May 1828 in Grayson County and died there on 24 Feb 1911. He was buried in the McGrew Cemetery in Grayson County. His wife Rachel Ann Wilson was born in 1830 and died in 1905. He was shown as Wesley, age 21, in the 1850 census. I understand that John Decker, Sr. was born 21 Oct 1752 in Mecklenburg Co, VA; that he served in the Revolutionary War as a private in Capt. Monroe's Co, Col Munford's Virginia Regiment for three months. That he was still in Meckinburg in 1782, and then went to Georgia in or about 1788. The 1850 census for Grayson County for Loddick Martin Decker shows he was born ca 1800 in Georgia. Was he also a son of John, Sr? Records show the family of John Decker, Sr was in Mercer Co, KY in 1806, in Hardin Co, KY in 1808 and in Grayson Co, KY at the time of the 1810, 1820 and 1830 census. I have been told that John, Jr, Barnett, Caleb and Ezekiel were his four sons who were in Kentucky with him. Allen R. Decker, b. 1778, VA, was the son of this John Decker; it appears to me that he would be the oldest of John, Sr's children. If Allen married a Georgia girl, it would logical to me that he would stay in Georgia with his wife, when his father and siblings moved on into Kentucky. Using the 1810, 1820, 1830 and 1850 census records for Grayson County . 1. Allen R. Decker - b. 1778, VA 2. Barnet Decker - b. bet 1780-1784 - est. ca 1781 (VA); m. Dorcus Smith 3. John, Jr / "Jack" Decker - b. ca 1785, VA (65-1850); m. 16 Jun 1806, Mercer Co, KY to Rachel Talley, d/o William Talley and Eleanor "Nellie" Harbison. 5. Male - b. bet 1784-1794 - est. ca 1787, VA 6. Ezekiel Decker - b. ca 1788, VA (62-1850); m. Margaret? 7. Female - b. bet 1784-1794 - est. ca 1791-92 8. Female - b. 1794-1800 - est. ca 1794-95 9. ? Loddick Martin - b. ca 1800, GA (50-1850); m. Malinda? John Decker's nephew Henry Decker was born between 1765-1770 according to the 1810 and 1830 census records. There is a William Decker, 43 b. KY, married to Susan Hayse; a William R., Decker, age 43 b. KY, married to Elizabeth Salsman; and a David Decker, age 46 b. KY, married to Mary Townsend; who are listed in Grayson County at the time of the 1850 census. Deckers of Grayson in which in which it states William Decker and his sons, Henry , Caleb and Ezekiel etc. It states again that William had four children to marry in Mercer Co. Caleb born in 1780, married on Dec 14, 1804 to Margaret Booth. Ezekiel born in 1788 married on Aug 29, 1805 to Esther Booth, Margaret's sister.
