I also noticed on the 1880 Census for them, that several older children from the 1880 Census were missing on the 1870 Census. I went back and checked the 1870 Census and discovered the following: 1870 Census Grayson County, Kentucky, Cany Precinct, Caneyville PO, pg 36 and pg 40 [sic], Enumerated 29 and 30 Jul 1870 by PS Barnes, Dwelling 244, Family 244, and Dwelling 269, Family 269 [The census taker made a big error on this family. It looks like he misnumbered the pages prior to listing the dwelling and family numbers. Part of them are listed on the end of page 36 and part of them are listed on the beginning of page 40. Two of them are not listed at all--the ones that come between Ellis Stinson on page 36 and FV Stinson on page 40--they would be Mary E Stinson born 30 May 1858 and Lydia Stinson born 12 Oct 1859. Mary E is not listed on the 1860 census, either, so probably died between her birth on 30 May 1858 and the 1860 Census. Lydia would have been about 10 in 1870. Either Lydia died between the 1860 and 1870 censuses, or she was left off the 1870 Census. She was not old enough to have married by 1870. Lydia is also not on any of the pages between 36 and ! 40. Here are the two pieces of the 1870 Census for this family:] page 36, Dwelling 244, Family 244, Stinson, Charles W, 36, male, White, Farmer, $1500 Real Estate, $1400 Personal Property, born Kentucky, eligible to vote Susan, 34, female, White, Keeping House, born Kentucky, cannot read or write Ellis, 14, male, White, Farm Laborer, born Kentucky cannot write [and the rest of the family, listed a few pages later:] page 40, Dwelling 269, Family 269, Stinson, FV, 9, female, White, born Kentucky Heneretta [sic], 7, female, White, born Kentucky SA, 4, female, White, born Kentucky Amos, 2, male, White, born Kentucky [If you compare this to the 1880 Census for the same family that I listed in my other reply today, you will see what I mean.] Diane Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
