It is possible that this is now the Rock Creek Cemetery. Can you please let me know if the following people are listed in the Rock Creek Cemetery? The listed burials were for Aaron and Elizabeth Downs, Bradley and Mary Skaggs Meredith (no tombs), J. H. (James H.) and Sarah Ann Moore, Sarah, David, and Billy Pearman, and David C., Elizabeth W., Benjamin E. and Jemima Phillips There were no dates for James H. Moore, but he served in Company D, Second Kentucky Cavalry, U.S.A. during the Civil War. He was born 28 Mar 1836 and died in February 1862 in Munfordville, Kentucky Phillips, David C. - b. 12 Feb 1815 / d. 12 Dec 1850 Phillips, Elizabeth W. - b. 17 Sep 1781 / d. 11 May 1863 Elizabeth W. Phillips was the consort (wife) of Edmund Phillips and the daughter of David Cleaver and Letitia Griffith. It is probable that Edmund Phillips was buried here with no marker. There were others listed as buried here with no markers. Traditionally a Phillips slave and his sweetheart were buried here with no markers. Phillips, Benjamin E. - b. 13 May 1789 / d. 15 May 1864 Phillips, Jemima - (b. 1784) / d. 16 Sep 1869 (85 years old) I believe Benjamin's wife, Jemima Phillips, was Mary Jemima Phillips, d/o John and Jemima (?) Phillips. As far as Owen and Lurana (Watts) Willis are concerned, I have always believed that they lived in or around the Leitchfield area. Owen Willis was the Assistant Marshal who enumerated the 1810 Census of Grayson County. Do you have his complete date of death? I would be very interested in sharing further information on any or all of the names you have listed here. Hi, Jane, For some reason or another my message went out before it was supposed to and was posted as Old Burned (Burnt) Church instead of your original message. At least it got to you. I'll look forward to hearing from you after the holidays. There is a possibility that the Old Burnt Church Cemetery and the Rock Creek Cemetery are one and the same. I just saw that note as I was going through my family sheets on some of the other Phillips families. I have not posted the information I have on the Phillips families into my Family Tree Maker as yet. I will do that sometime in the next few days. Yes, Edmund and Benjamin E. Phillips were brothers and sons of Benjamin Phillips, Sr. (1757-1831), who died in Washington County, Kentucky. Consort means husband or wife. (It can also mean an associate or a ship accompanying another ship.) In case of burials or Bible records, however, it means husband or wife. I hope you have a very Merry Christmas with your family and a Happy New Year filled with newly-found ancestors.
