I believe that the footstones for JHB and HDB are for Joseph Henderson Byers, the s/o James Henderson Byers and Margaret Renfrow. He was born 01 Apr 1846 and died 17 Feb 1925 in Grayson County. His wife was Hannah D. Robbins, the daughter of C. C. Robins. She was b. 05 Apr 1861 and died 25 May 1926. Her married name would be Hannah D. Byers and her initials would be HDB. The cemetery was at or near the small tree. Was said one of Hezekiah Hart and Sarah Frances Griffin twin sons is buried there along with John Griffin and maybe Mary Anne Griffin Witten. Some of the names in this thread are unknown, but the Byers surname brought a renewed interest. This is not the whole listing for this small cemetery, however I'm listing the known residents. FYI I did bless this private cemetery on June 10, 2007. Margaret(b.1813); James H.(b.1808); Walker M.D.(b.1852); Sue(b.1855); Ansel(b.1850); Bettie Davis(b.1859); James V(b.1840); John; Effie; Lowery(b.1823); A Lincoln(b.1861); Nancy E.(b.1854); JW(b.1885); Effie E(b.1880); John R(b.1835); Ellen(b.1850). Technical questions I can't answer, but I have more stone data. I have a footstone with initials of HDB/JHB. The only initials that make sense here would be the possibility of this stone belonging to James H Byers and James' wife. Just a possibility.... I wanted to let you know for any who might be interested, I'm about halfway done indexing the photos I took last summer at Caneyville cemetery. It's quite large as most of you realize. Alice, How nice of you! When I was there I was really looking for kinfolk, and I walked the whole cemetery, but I never took photos. It will be nice for the viewers of this board to see some photos.
