Hi, VirJean: I did have America in my data, but just couldn't find her. I have her dob as 18 Feb 1850 (sources are 1900 census and the McClure Journal) and the 1900 census says she was born in KY, but VA sounds more correct as it reflects her name. Do you have a source for her birthplace? Here's two bits of data for her: 1900 and 1910 census says 15 children, 12 surviving. KY Death Index: America V Mcclure Death Date: 14 March , 1931 Death Place: Grayson Age: 081 Volume: 14 Certificate: 6619 As for the children, I think Sally's actual name was Lillie May and she was born 9 Dec 1867 (source Journal); she married Abel H. Cull 22 Apr 1889; she died after 1920. Here's a little note I have: "Grayson Gazette, 27 Oct 1899: On last Saturday morning, while Mrs. Abe Cull was out milking, their little daughter fell into the fire place and was badly burned about the face and body. It died from the wounds about 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon. The child was only three years old." I agree with your info on Nora. She died 13 Apr 1931 and she married William F. Rice. As for William T., I show his nick-name as "Greely", and I assume I got that from the census records - not sure. For Alberta, I have her dob as Mar 1873, from the 1900 census, and her dod as 7 Mar 1938 (Jefferson County); she married William D. Nall. Next are the twins: Todd Milton and Etta were born 8 Sep 1875. Todd Milton married Oliva Yates abt 1899 and they had three children: Dolores (abt 1900), Milton (abt 1903), and Douglas Y (31 May 1906). His second wife was Metta B. Skaggs (1878-?) Unconfirmed: KY Birth Index: Name: Martha Skaggs Birth Date: 7 Mar 1878 Birth County: Grayson Ethnicity: White Gender: Female Father's Name: Jno M Skaggs Mother's Name: Nancy D Tuckerson County of Residence: Grayson. Some facts on Todd Milton: KY Birth Index: Name: Tod M McClure Birth Date: 7 Sep 1875 Birth County: Grayson Gender: Male Father's Name: T A McClure Mother's Name: Bethel County of Residence: Grayson WWI Draft Registration: Todd Milton McClure City: Not Stated County: Grayson State: Kentucky Birth Date: 8 Sep 1875 Race: White Roll: 1653360 KY Death Index: T M Mcclure Death Date: 10 October , 1930 Death Place: Grayson Age: 055 Volume: 50 Certificate: 24602 As for the twin named Etta, all I have is her dob, so I assume she died as an infant. KY Birth Index: Name: Etta McClure Birth Date: 7 Sep 1875 Birth County: Grayson Gender: Female Father's Name: T A McClure Mother's Name: Bethel County of Residence: Grayson The next child was Theodore Rufus, who was born 21 Jul 1877 and died 19 Apr 1946 (Grayson). He married Nannie E. Ross (dob May 1891) and they had 7 children: Raymond, Norma, Willie, Paul, Roy L., Joe B., and Mary J. WWI Draft Registration: Theodore Rufe McClure City: Not Stated County: Grayson State: Kentucky Birth Date: 21 Jul 1877 Race: White Roll: 1653360 1900 census shows him as Rufus T. KY Death Index: Rufe McClure Death Date: 19 April, 1946 Death Place: Grayson Age: 068 Residence: Grayson Volume: 22 Certificate: 10887 The next child is Mary M., and I have her nick-name (or possibly middle name) as Maude - I agree with your dob and I have nothing else about her. Next I have Gus (probably Augustine) born abt 1882, died aft 1920; married Sadie Glenn (abt 1877 - 1 Feb 1980) and they had 5 children: Geneva, Holmes, Lucian, Glenn, and Murl. Next I have Effie Zay, born abt 1883; married Abe Duggins 1 Jul 1910. No other info. My notes: Unverified: Effie L Duggins Death Date: 29 August, 1960 Death Place: Grayson Age: 075 Residence: Grayson Volume: 60 Certificate: 29606 Theresa ([email protected]) thinks that Effie married William C. Peddicord, so the above would be incorrect. Next I have Virginia E., born Mar 1885 and died 8 Mar 1976 (Grayson). She married Edward T. McDonald (abt 1871 - 3 Oct 1944). Next I have Robert Ransom, born 27 Dec 1886 and died 11 May 1948 (Grayson); he married Mary E. Newton (abt 1893 - 28 Mar 1978). They had 2 children: Elzie and Wilbur. My notes: WWI Draft Registration: Robert Ransom McClure City: Not Stated County: Grayson State: Kentucky Birthplace: Kentucky; United States of America Birth Date: 27 Dec 1886 Race: Caucasian Roll: 1653360; states he is married with two children (June 1917). KY Death Index: Robert R McClure Death Date: 11 May , 1948 Death Place: Grayson Age: 061 Residence: Grayson Volume: 20 Certificate: 9737 Next I have Benjamin Harrison, born 24 Feb 1889 and died 12 Nov 1918. He married Laura Hack (abt 1892) and they had one child: Anthony Augustine born 13 Aug 1912. Here are my notes on Benjamin Harrison: WWI Draft Registration: Ben Harrison McClure City: Not Stated County: Grayson State: Kentucky Birthplace: Kentucky; United States of America Birth Date: 24 Feb 1889 Race: Caucasian Roll: 1653360; states he is married with one child (June 1917). Email from Bax McClure: "In looking at the book "Millerstown and its People" page 225 through 227 I have found the following: Anthony Augustus McClure b. 8-13-1912 to Benjamin H. McClure b. 2-24-1889 and unknown mother. Benjamin is the son of Theodore McClure b. 11-14-1843 and d. 4-7-1917 and America Beville b. 2-18-1850 and d. 3-14-1931. (America is the daughter of Anan Beville and Fannie Bocock). Theodore is the son of Samuel (Big Sam) McClure b. 1820 and d. 7-8-1888 and Frances Cravens. Also in my files I have a copy of Theordore's death certificate and a copy of America's obituary (The Leitchfield Gazette, March 20, 1931). In her obituary it mentions Ben McClure as having preceded her in death and it mentions Mrs. Peddicord at the end of the obituary which is who I found your father living with in Logan County Illinois in the 1930 Census. Also in the book Kentucky Genealogy and Biography, Volume 1 by Battle, Perrin & Kniiffin in 1885 and reprinted in 1969 and edited by Thomas W. Westerfield, there is a biography of Thomas Beville who was America's brother (she is mentioned in the bio.). If you are interested in copies of some of this material let me know." The next child was Grace, born Mar 1891, who married D. S. Bishop (abt 1886 AL) - they married 28 Nov 1916. No other info on them - might have gone back to AL. My notes: McClure Journal, page 82, Grace Eileen McClure and Jack D. S. Bishop married 28 Nov 1916. No other info. No, because they are copyrighted and the genealogical society makes money from the sale of them. Book owners can do limited lookups from the books, but if the books are online it will hurt the historical society as well as being a breach of copyright. I don't remember all the details because when I was there I was looking for specific items. As for Ohio County, I believe everything is intact. I have handled some very very old records in Ohio County. I have not done research physically in McLean County. (I've looked at the census a few times but that's the extent of my experience there).
