There will be mistakes in any coping of any records and yes there are mistakes in the old books and will probably be some in the new ones. What I do is I look for a death certificate or Social Security Record along with the cemetery record. If they all agree then I assume they are accurate. I know several ladies who are helping update the new edition. Anything you find written or posted by VirJean Bozorth is usually correct, I have have found very few errors on her records. If you have Ancestry.com (you pay a fee to get this service) they now have the original death certificates from 1852-1952 on line. You also have access to all the census records, birth and some marriage records. You also have access to the research of others who have published their work on this site from all over the U.S and some other countries. You have access to registration records but not much information is given except for WWI.It is well worth the money if you do not have it. I use the information and if the source is not given or not definitly proven to my satifaction then I start at that point and go from there. Hope this helps. Some say that it was an accident, and that Vina walked up behind Joseph while he was chopping wood. While others say that Joseph went crazy and that it was intentional. Either way, I have confirmed that Lavina (Vina) Johnson Pearl was murdered - per her death certificate. She died on 12/08/1915 in Grayson Co., KY. Also, I did confirm that Joseph Pearl was sent to Central State Hospital (mental institution) in Lakelnd, Jefferson Co., KY about 1915 and died in 02/1921 from exhaustion and manic depressive psycosis - per his death certificate. However, I have not confirmed that it was by her husband, Joseph Pearl, nor the circumstances to Lavina's murder. Therefore, I was wondering if someone had access to the Grayson Co. library and would mind looking to see if there is a newspaper article about Lavina's death? I will reimburse for the copy of the article made and send you a self-addressed stamped envelope for the copy to be sent to me. Any help would be greatly appreciated. You should be able to contact the library via e-mail and make your request. They are usually pretty helpful with genealogy research. ----- Original Message ----- From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Sent: Tuesday, November 13, 2007 8:26 PM Subject: [KYGRAYSO] Murder of Lavina (Vina) J. If your father does make the trip and takes pictures of the stones of Jonathan Bozorth and Mary Hargis Bozorth and of Jeremiah Bozorth and Sarah Grieves Bozorth, I would appreciate having copies. When my daughter and I visited the cemetery in August of 1980, we took pictures of the Bozorth stones, but over the years and several moved, I have lost track to them. I would also appreciate a picture of the D.A.R. recognition marker that was placed with Jonathan's stone back on June 14, 1987. I'd be happy to pay the cost of those pictures.
