Hi Sandra, Boy, we sure got a workout yesterday! I just love finding things for people! Send me the volume #'s you don't have and I will order those first. I am posting this on the list for two reasons, maybe the information will help someone else and maybe someone will see something familiar and help me. O. K., One of my biggest blocks is my gg grandfather, James Austin Webb. I can't for the life of me discover who his parents were. All records I have seen, has him listed as being born in Tazewell, Virginia. I have his birth as Oct. 29, 1819 and death as Oct. 14, 1891. These dates are from cemetery records and a very strange obit. James was in Pulaski County, at least by 1848, as he marries Lucinda Meece there on Oct. 18, 1848. I don't know if he had been there any length of time or was just passing through and decided he needed a wife. He and Lucinda are in Grant County by 1850 as they show up on the census there. They had the following children: Joseph Webb born about 1851 married Lizzie? I need birth, marriage, children, death James Madison Webb born Nov. 28, 1853 - I need marriage, children, death Franklin Pierce Webb born April 25, 1856 married Nettie? - I need marriage, children, death Tennessee Belle Webb born Jan. 8, 1859 married Martin Mann July 19, 1877. She died Jan. 5, 1881, probably in childbirth. They had two children, Fred born abt. 1881 and Charles born Aug. 16, 1878. The boys were raised by their Webb grandparents -I need descendants. Augusta Virginia Webb born about 1862 married a Mr. Kinney/Kenny? - I need birth, marriage, death, children. Harriet "Hattie" Webb born April 19, 1868 married Jefferson Hutchinson. Harriet and Jefferson had at least two children, Webb and Nola. I think Webb Hutchinson married Hattie Maude Elliott and I think Nola married ? Sydnor. Hattie died Jan. 29, 1904, as the result of a lamp that she attempted to blow out exploded and she was engulfed in flames. What a tragic thing! - I need marriage, information about the children. John Samuel Webb born 1864 married Catherine "Kate" Marks May 18, 1881 in Grant Co. He died June 30, 1936 in Grant Co. - I need birth date and children Sarah "Sallie" Webb, (twin) born abt 1870 married Walker Atkins May 4, 1898 in Grant County. - I need birth, death, children Mary Elizabeth "Mollie" Webb (twin) born abt 1870 married Clarence Nimrod Ashcraft July 24, 1891 in Grant Co. - I need birth and death Cora Eliza Webb born April 5, 1871 married Otho Stanley Ashcraft July 31, 1895. She died March 23, 1905. These are my g grandparents. What I would like to know is when Otho Stanley married his second wife, Ollie Stevens, it was probably about 1908, there was a mention in the Barton Papers that they had a daughter who died young, I would like to know about her. I think my only hope of discovering James Austin Webb's parents is through a living descendant who might know. There were several Webb's in the area during James and Lucinda's life time, most of who game from N. C., a very well documented family. I don't know what, if any, connection this has with my Webb family but James Austin and Lucinda had to go to Grant County for some reason. I think there was an Augustus Webb also living in the area at that time and somewhere I think I saw that he was from Virginia. Maybe if I discover who his parents were and where he came from, that will link me to James Austin's parents. Well, I didn't mean to write a novel. Thanks to all, I will appreciate any help!
