Hi Debbie, That doesn't sound funny, I forgot what it is like to just begin researching, sorry. What genealogy program are you using? If it is "Family Treemaker" you open the page that has the oldest ancestor you want to begin with then you just go to the top of the menu and look for "genreport". Click on that, then you can click on "options" that will let you determine the number of generations to show. You can also decide if you want to put sources as footnotes or within the document. The easiest way I have found to copy the report to send it to someone online is after the report is on your screen, click on "edit" then from that drop down menu click on "copy". I then open Word or Word Pad and click on "edit" in that program and then from the drop down menu click on "paste". The document should appear. Then you can either send it as an attachment or you can highlight it and then click as before on edit, open the e-mail address of the precipitant and click paste. I know this sounds confusing, but once you do it a few times it will be old hat in no time. I still have a hard time with some attachments, especially pictures. Take care and write me anytime. Bonnie
