    1. Re: [KYGRANT-L] Need help to w/1870 breakthrough.
    2. Dear Bonnie and Listers, I found the index on my first trip to FTM's link to their GenealogyLibrary site. This is a subscription site. I got free time when I bought the upgrade to FTM. I would say that it is a like a cousin to Ancestry.com. I haven't tried anything else on the FTM site but from the home page, it seems to have enough different items that searching both would be profitable. If anyone got the FTM update v. 6.0 or 7.0, you may be entitled to free time also. I ordered directly from FTM so that may make a difference. (I have found that when I order directly, I get somekind of bonus.) The salesman told me that I would get it but there was no info at all with the upgrade. When I called, I was told that the info was on the CD. All I had to do was use the link, follow directions, and, VOILA, there I was. This index is the only thing I have tried. It will list all occurrances of a surname regardless of County. Then I click details and get the County list in alphabetical order of surnames. There is an index for all KY censes up to 1870. Of course the 1860 is on the Grant website and there is an 1850 CD of the actual census. As I find entries that concern people mentioned on this list, I will try to help out. My time is short and there is the copyright issue but I will do what I can. It seems as if some names show up repeatedly on the list: ASHCRAFT NORTON DUNN BAKER all of which are ours. Others that I am searching in this general area are: WOLF(E) KING SLADE TOADVINE ASBURY. Aren't I lucky to my research concentrating in one area for so many years? Again I want to thank Bonnie and Sandy for sponsoring the site and to all the people contributing. I know that everyone's enthusiasm has gotten me focused energized again. (Of course, my husband isn't too pleased. He says he's going to name the computer as correspondent in our divorce. That is a joke!!!!) I only do my genealogy on the few days I am home from my part-time job or after he goes to bed. I also take the laptop on trips and do entering and organizing in the car. I got one of the converters that uses the cigarette lighter to provide power for two sockets. Pat WOLFE
