    2. Hi Debby and All, In response to the questions Debby wrote to Sandra concerning the Simpson discrepancies, THE INDEX IS NOT ALWAYS ACCURATE. All Sandra and I do is tell you what it says. I have found several wrong entries. It is as accurate as the person giving the information was. Just like census records, the person giving the information could have been a teenager and just guessed at the birth dates etc. Could have even bee a boarder giving the information or, the census taker wrote it down wrong. My theory is to gather as many sources as you can; the ones that contain information that coincides with others, is the route I go. Unless we have famous ancestors who's every moment has been documented, we are pretty much left with "most likely." Family Bibles are wonderful sources, but even they aren't always correct. Some people have been known to "fudge" on ages in the family Bible in order to receive pensions! Even marriages have been known to be "concocted." Hope this helps to clarify why there is and always will be, discrepancies. Take care, Bonnie

    2. Hi Robert, There is a Keefer, Kentucky located south of Williamstown. I don't know if there is an exit for it off I-75 or not, but you could take the Williamstown exit. Go south on US 25 till you get to Keefer Rd. turn right, a little way down the Rd. you will see Shilo Rd. on the left, if you turn there, you will come upon Shilo Church; there is a cemetery there, if you continue down Shilo Rd. you will come to Mason Cemetery. If you continue on Keefer Rd. you will shortly see Steger Cemetery on your left and in you go further down Keefer Rd.; you will come to the town of Keefer. The Grant Co. Library, located next to the Court house on US 25 (Main St.) in Williamstown, has Vital Statistics such as the 1911> birth index and I think they have the death index too. The problem is they have no microfiln/fiche printer. The Court house has marriage bonds, some wills, deeds, etc. The Court House burned, about fifty years ago and a lot of documents were lost. I was recently at the Kentucky History Center in Frankfort, it is new and Wonderful! You can find lots of "stuff" there and then of course, there is the State Archives located in Frankfort too. It has most of the original documents from every county in KY. Plan on spending a long time there, and I think they close early on Sat. Well, hope this helps, Bonnie

    3. Will pose this question to all. Have been looking for g-mother Ida Morehead after parents, Richard Morehead & Rosetta Ashcraft, died and she was supposedly lived w/an aunt & uncle. After going over a copy of an 1880 Grant Co. census sheet, I found Ida Morehead living w/what appears to be an Anderson A. Medsy and wife, Mary E., dwelling 38, line 2, page 6. Richard Morehead had a sister Mary who would have been about the same age. Does the name Anderson A. Medsy (or what appears to be on census) look familiar to anyone? Janice

    1. [KYGRANT-L] TAYLOR, FARR, ROGERS - Keefer area
    2. Jim Mason
    3. As a new subscriber to this mail list, this is my first posting. I am seeking information on the TAYLOR family in the Keefer area of Grant Co. near the Grant-Owen counties boundaries. I have visited the TAYLOR cemetery on the Shiloh Church Road, but many stones are either missing or illegible. I am seeking confirmation that William TAYLOR (b. abt 1815), son of Parker TAYLOR (b. 1796) and Betsey FARR (m. January 19, 1815) is the same William TAYLOR (b. 1815) who was married to Agnes ROGERS (b. 1828) and the father of 6 children: Margaret TAYLOR, b. 1841 Nancy TAYLOR, b. 1843 Turner TAYLOR, b. 1846 Sarah TAYLOR, b. 1849 Mary TAYLOR, b. 1850, d. 1886; m. Lewis BARNES Maranda TAYLOR, b. 1852, d. 1921; m. John A. MASON (my grandparents) The difference in age between Agnes ROGERS and the oldest child Margaret being only 13 years gives rise to speculation that Agnes may have been William's second wife and not the mother of some of the older children. Any information would be appreciated. Jim Mason Owensboro, KY
