Dear Subscribers, Yesterday--and previously--I have mentioned that a good many books, out of copyright, it seems, have been digitized and appear on the online genealogical database called HeritageQuest. A good many public libraries have a subscription. If your library does NOT subscribe, ask *Why not?* Then ask the librarian to help you find a nearby library where you can pay an annual fee to be able to access this helpful source. The book I mentioned yesterday was a Calendar of the Kentucky Papers of the Lyman C. Draper Manuscripts. (Use the search term in the Book section: Calendar). [I have to return to that search, as there are other good books further down the list] Today, I am reminded that a Filson Club publication has been digitized and is also on HeritageQuest under Books. The author is George W. Ranck, and the book is Boonesborough. Long ago, when I discovered this book [I snoop in all the libraries which I frequent], I found some *goodies* pertaining to my people in the Appendices as well in the main text. I must get to the digitized book and see if those Appendices are still there!! The book seems to be well indexed--and seemingly cross-indexed also. Use the search term Boonesborough. As you must know some early Kentucky history, Col. Richard Henderson of Granville Co. NC, was the main speculator behind the establishment of Boonesborough. His agent, at least in the beginning, was his first cousin, Col. John Williams (later a Judge, as was Henderson, and he was called John Williams, Esq. in Granville Co. records). A few of the letters of these cousins appear in the Colonial Records of North Carolina, if memory serves. Some of them pertain to family members. I hope you find some interesting material in Boonesborough--maybe even some to expand your family history. E.W.Wallace **************Biggest Grammy Award surprises of all time on AOL Music.
