I did do a somewhat cursory look at William Turner and have some suggestions for futher research. ***I'm using William Turner who married Rolinda Hurt as Jr with his father being Sr. 1. A William Turner is not listed in the Garrard Co. tax lists for years 1797 through 1802 suggesting that this particular line was not in Garrard during that period. Further, I found a death notice for a George Turner, who may have been William Turner (Jr) brother which substantiates that they were still in Virginia ca. 1802. >From the Garrard county death records: Turner, George, age 74, male, married, died 24 Dec 1876 of pneumonia. Born in VA, the son of William and Susan Turner. Both parents born in VA. George is buried in the Mt. Hebron cemetery with birth date of 12 Jul 1802 death date 24 Dec 1876 (See Cemetery Records of Garrard Co.) George was married to Milly Fowler 14 Oct 1833 in Garrard (See Garrard Co Marriage Records 1797-1853.) Then I looked at the Garrard Co. Chancery Court Index and found the following suits which might prove a connection that you need as these suits usually contain genealogy information due to the nature of the suit. 1. Turner, William adversary Thomas Fletcher. Suit heard Sep 1826, Box 17, Bundle 65, Suit #494, Order Book 9, Page 222. Because of the 1826 date, this may be William, Sr. because William Jr was born ca 1811 (based on tombstone) and would have too young to bring suit without a friend of the court action.) 2. Turner, Samuel vs. William Turner. Suit heard May 1853, Box 64, Bundle 254, Suit #2138, Order Book 20, page 357. (This is probably William who was marr to Rolinda Hurt) I do not know the relationship between Samuel & Wm Turner. 3. Turner, Samuel vs. George Turner. Suit heard Jul 1853, Box 65, Bundle 260, Suit #2162, Order Book 20, page 439. The Chancery Records are kept at KY Archives in Frankfort but you can order copies. Price depends on number of pages in suit. Kentucky Department for Libraries & Archives Research Room 300 Coffee Tree Road Frankfort, KY 40601 502-875-7000 www.kdla.ky.gov then click on research Chancery Court suits were about land disputes, estate settlements or indebtedness. Usually they contain depositions of family and friends. I believe there was a family connection between William, George & Samuel that would be worth checking out. Sometimes when you can't find a straight forward connection you have to go sideways. LOL Sandy Hurt-Norris Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
