I don't know why it's so alluring. I just received my BA in History though, so I don't know if I'm the best person to ask. 2. I don't have any other major interests; most of my time goes into maintaining my websites for various regional genealogies, example http://genealogenie.net/kybutler 3. I have been into this since I was something like 7 years old. My grandmother got me into it. (I am 20 now). 4. My feelings have changed. I changed from someone who didn't realize sources were important to someone dedicated to the preservation of those sources. I used to be one of those people that just wanted to get my line "farther" regardless of accuracy. Now I document everything possible. 5. I do my research online and in person. Usually online to determine what and where I need to go in person. In some places where there's not much I want (like i wanted only 4 records for the whole state of CA) I write off for the records. But in places like KY where most of my roots are, I love the courthouses and archives. 6. I'm always amused by my discoveries. Sometimes it's a weird name, sometimes its an explanation for something that I was wondering for a long time. 7. I wrote my undergraduate thesis about the history of interest in genealogy in the United States mostly focusing on heritage societies. I could send you a copy, with my bibliography if you want.
