I don't have the settlement of the estate. I have a note on my file that says the birth date of Thornton K. Thompson, 28 May 1801, is from the family bible of James Thompson. If Harold Rardin is reading this, he probably has more information as he has done quite a lot of research on James Thompson. Donna Will of James Thompson - 1824 First Surveyor of Lincoln County, Representative, Justice and Senator of Garrard County Will Book T pg. 29 In the name of God, I, James Thompson of Garrard County and State of Kentucky do by these presents make,institute and ordain this to be my last will and testament and altho now standing in the light of Eternal God but also realizing the uncertainy my mortal life, do hereby ordain this to be my last will and testament. First and foremost, revoking all deeds or instruments of writing that was given by me when my mind was uncollected do now order and direct all my just debts to be paid as far as known and my funeral charges settled, then the remainder of my estate be equally divided among my children as well considering what they have before had as the remainder of my estate that may be in the hands of the executor and that Granville Pollard shall renounce his spurious deed and shall in leiu thereof have fifty acres around and including his improvements where he now lives. The balance of the tract of land after giving fifty acres thereof, to Daniel Obannon going on to the easte! rly line of his farm where he now lives being the westerly side of the land called Egberts 100 acres, the balance of the tract of land will be for the benefit of my son, Thornton if it does not exceed the general legacy to him and my other children in general. It must stand so, if not, it must be brought to the general standard and that to be ascertained by the value of the property at the time it was given to my children,the said legatees and for the execution of this, my last will and testament. I do hereby appoint Daniel Obannon, my sons,Thornton, and Andrew of Mason County my executors of this, my last will and testament and hereby as above, revoking all former wills by me made or other instuments of writing that may be in the least come in the purview of this, my last will and testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and sealed with my seal this 10th day June, 1824.
