I am curious about the accuracy of some of those newspapers back then. The article in the Charleston Mercury indicates that one of Doc Hez Evans sons was killed on May 10 1850. As a descendant of the Doc, I am interested to know which son it was, or whether it was an ally. I have a list of all Doc's children and there is no match. The closest thing I come to is James Simeon b. 17 Aug 1835, d. 6 Jun 1855 (tombstone inscription).
