James Smith, of Col. Hoskins' Twelth KY Regiment. Capt. Smith was home on furlough. A bad feeling had existed between Burdett and Smith for a long time. A ball entered Burdett's neck between his jugular vein and the windpipe. It was thought for a time, that he was shot dead, but he partially recovered, and at last accounts, a hope was entertained that he might recover.
