Thanks to all of you who responded so fast. This is the reason I requested this information. To those of you who have researched some of the Coopers in the area of Montgomery County and in any direction for 70 + miles, there are some Coopers that do not tie to other Coopers. My cousin and I have been researching the Henry Cooper family (b.1760-Va) who first appeared on the Montgomery County Tax List about 1793 or so. For 5 years we had not been able to determine any parentage for this Henry Cooper. Quite by accident, we found a guardianship paper for Henry where he was appointed guardian of his younger brother George in Berkeley County, Va.(West Virginia now ). From there, we learned that his father was Adam Cooper (deceased 1783?) and then learned that Adam had an older son William. This is the William Cooper in Garrard County. We believe there are other siblings of Adam Cooper of which we have yet to discover. The current thinking is that some of these Coopers who show up in Madison, Morgan, Magoffin, Bourbon, etc could possible be Adams children. Adam married Elizabeth Stroup/Stroop/Strupe in 1856. Family size of that time would indicate a family larger than the four we currently know of. This William Cooper (Garrard County) lived in Loudoun County, Virginia, prior to his moving to Garrard County. It is our hope that we can obtain the dependency of William Cooper and be able to contact someone who may know more about Adam Cooper. We do not know who Adam Cooper's parents were but we do know that we connect to Valentine Cooper born 1745 in Maryland. William Cooper married Hannah Evans. We only know of one child at this time and she is Rosanna Cooper who married Benjamin Dunn. This was my reasoning for trying to find out the children's name so maybe I can find some of their descendants. Thank again and if I can help anyone, please contact me. Roger Cooper
