    1. Re: [KYGARRAR] Re: Roll Call - Lair/Lear

    3. I am researching the Lair and Lear families of Garrard. There is evidence of two separate families: the German Lairs who go back to Mathias Lair of Rockingham County, Virginia and the English Lears from Culpeper County, Virginia. My apparent ancestor is William Lear/Lair, who died in Garrard in 1807. His presumed son, James, married Sarah Hamilton in Garrard on 14 Feb 1801. I am not absolutely certain of William's lineage. Accordingly, I have decided to write a research memorandum that will analyze the possibilities and will attempt more broadly to sort out the confluence of Lairs and Lears on the waters of Back Creek. I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has evidence supporting their Lear/Lair lineage. When the memorandum is finished, I will post a link to it on this list.
