Rev. Benjamin Wheeler m. to Sophia Bratcher: Benjamin was a s/o my g-g-grandfather, William Wheeler, and his wife Sarah "Sally" Shrewsbury; his brother Abel Wheeler is my g-grandfather. Benjamin was born in Garrard County, KY on 12-8-1807 and died in Gentry County, MO on 1-5-1893. He is buried in Wheeler-Hardwick (or Hardwick-Wheeler) Cemetery in Pattonsburg, MO Sophia was the d/o John Bratcher and Nancy Shrewsbury. She was born 3-16-1801 in Culpepper County, VA and died 2-24-1877. I don't have proof of the death location, but she is also buried in the same cemetery. Rev. Benjamin was closely associated with Freedom Baptist Church in Garrard County. If memory serves me correctly, when he and Sophia migrated to Gentry County, he founded a church there and named it Freedom Baptist after the church in Garrard County. Sometime ago, someone (I believe it was Brice Bratcher), sent me photos of the tombstones of Rev. Benjamin and Sophia. He also sent a copy of a document with a photo of the MO Freedom Baptist Church which contained a brief history of the church. I have lost the copy of that document and would really like to get another one. If someone has a copy of it, I would really appreciate it if they could e-mail me a copy. Gary W.
