Smith is the son of John Smith (what I hope to demonstrate with the probate of John Smith), the Frances (Francis) West Marksbury who married Peyton W. Smith in 1849 (and was the mother of John Thomas Smith, b. 1849, Andrew, b. 1853 & Peyton W., b 1857) would be the daughter-in-law of John Smith who (believe it or not) was also married to a Frances (maiden name unknown). And you are right, the Frances West Marksbury who married Peyton Smith in 1849 was the daughter of Peyton West!!! It is very possible that John Smith was married prior to his marriage to Frances ?, I just know that she was his wife at the latter part of his life. There were at least 2 John Smiths in Garrard County from the early 1800s. I did not know about the other little boy born to Peyton Smith and Frances West Smith. I am grateful for that information.
