Other notes taken from "A Story of Four Churches and Reminiscences of Poosy Ridge" by Forest Calico: "Griffin Pond settled on Back Creek in Garrard County. Griffin came with the Craig group of Baptists to Gilbert's Creek in 1780's. The church he represented and called "The Traveling Church," which came from Orange and Culpepper counties in Virginia, consised of about 200 members. The entire company was said to consist of some 600 people." Polly Pond was probably a daughter of Griffin Pond. His son, John G. Pond, was a famous Baptist minister who married Solina Schooler in 1832. The minister who married John Schooler and Polly Pond, Charles Finnell, also came in with the Traveling Church. Sandy
