    2. Dear Garrard Co. Researchers, To my knowledge, my ancestors in Garrard Co., for the most part, had 1) died of old age or of disease or 2) had left Kentucky and gone to Texas well before the Civil War [or whatever you want to label it]. Knowing nothing about *Bushwhackers*, I did a google.com search and found that the Filson Historical Society [formerly the Filson Club--which seems to be a nightclub these days] had had an article about this group in one of their publications. Since I am not going to do any more research--too many other genealogical problems--I suggest you do some googling [or whatever search engine you wish] and find out what you can. Interesting tale, but sad!!! My Garrard Co., KY ancestor--John Frederick Kemper--went to Texas to fight in the Texian Revolution against Mexico ca 1835-1836. He was killed about ten years later by Karankawa Indians, a tough bunch on the Texas coast, as they tried to steal his livestock. His wife, two babies, and his mother-in-law [a crack shot from North Carolina-Kentucky] kept the fiends at bay while the women and babes took off in the darkness, one cold Texas night! Kemper's siblings, for the most part, migrated to Missouri, after selling their inherited land sometime in the 1840s. One male died unmarried, I believe.
