Basil Baker served in Co. E of the 47th KY Mounted Inf. (US) in the Civil War. There are no given names Binjin indexed with any surname in KY and no Binjin Bakers anywhere in the US in any census to which I have an index. I suspect he was a Benjamin, of whom there are many. He may also be listed under B. or Ben Baker, or his other given name, or even a nickname.
