    2. Another possibility for the Cole in Cole Younger comes from the fact that Jesse James mother was a Cole. I have not yet found a relationship between Jesse James and the Younger family but I suspect it. Bob Evans ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.

    3. I thought that too, but have seen several refences that his name was Coleman or Thomas Coleman Younger. Perhaps the connection wa son his father's side. I recently read T.J. Stiles's book, Jesse James, Last Rebel of the Civil War (which I highly recommend because it goes deeply into Missouri during the war and how terrible it was for anyone living there) and as I recall, it doesn't mention the relationship. Jesse's mother is said to have had a brother, her father died young and her mother remarried. She lived with her grandfather in Scott County (Georgetown) and it was there she met and married Mr. James. 3. I think the connection with Younger and James is that they rode together at times. Although, I did get email from a Slaughter cousin who says the family story is that Cole Younger was related to the Slaughters. Green and James Slaughter had indictiments against them for the murder of Ab Pollard in 1864 and they fled with my Barnet Reid to Ripley Co. IN where Jesse's mother's family were. I'm slowly piecing together family from all those on the Evans side of the Hill Evans feud as it seems that my family was involved and that violence continued on into the Civil War years. Here is an excellent website for Jesse James family and a long list of surnames. Cole Younger is on this list. http://www.ericjames.org/Contents_for_James_Genealogy.html/ Rose Berry ----- Original Message ----- From: "Christine M.
