Hi Sandy, I noticed the Simpson surname listed in your post, and wanted to contact you to see how you connect with them. Are you a descendant of George Simpson and Elizabeth Alexander? I am a descendant of James Alexander who was Elizabeth (Alexander) Simpson's brother. Elijah Simopson married Mary Logan, daughter of Timothy Logan. James Alexander (see above) married another daughter of Timothy Logan by the name of Elizabeth. Do you know if Elijah Simpson was a son of George Simpson and Elizabeth Alexander? I don't know how the Hurt family connects, but my Alexanders and the family of Joshua Hurt migrated to Randolph County, MO in the 1820's. In fact, my 3rd great-grandparents James Alexander and Elizabeth (Logan) Alexander are buried in the Hurt Cemetery in Randolph County, Missouri along with the minister who married them by the name of Charles Finnell. I see you show the Hurt family as being from Halifax County, Virginia. I think another Garrard County family by the name of Hubbard is also from Halifax Co., VA (Joel Hubbard married Sallie Alexander, daughter of James Alexander and Elizabeth Logan). There was a Rice family from Halifax as well, and I see that name in both the Alexander and Logan families. I am also descended from a Rice family that I believe may have originated in Halifax Co., VA, but I don't think my "branch" of Rices lived in Garrard Co., KY. Look forward to hearing from you to see if we have any connections. David [email protected] wrote: This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. I don't know if Jane and Francis had a dau named Elizabeth but can tell you that her mother was named Elizabeth Morris married to James Hurt in 1786 in Halifax, VA. Jane also had a son, Abel Hurt, born around 1810 but he was raised by an uncle, Henry Hurt. In the 1820 Garrard census, there was a Jane Hurt living with a male child under 10 and I am assuming this was Abel and he went with Henry after this date. We don't think Jane was married when she had Abel as she is listed under her maiden name in 1820. Whatever information you have I would be interested in sharing.
