And, it is good when one offers some degree of uncertainty so that there might be further consideration. I also have some data on the family of John and Mary Yarbrough Murphy. I have 14 James Murphys in my data base and I can see why the James Murphy marriages can be confusing for a few of them. I have James Murphy, son of John and Mary Yarbrough Murphy as first marrying Elizabeth Hammack/Hammock bond date 21 Aug. 1822 in Garrard Co. ; Elizabeth was a dau. of William and Jane Long Hammack/Hammock and that she died on 8 Jun. 1843. I have that they had 6 children, the last one born abt. 1842. The same James Murphy, by my list, married 2nd Paulina East, bond date 30 Oct. 1844. she was a dau. of Josiah East and possibly his wife, Sally Storms. The James Murphy born 1834 must have married another Paulina East. The marriage of the first James to a Paulina was in 1844 and certainly not to the James born abt. 1834 or at age 10.. Does supplier have a marriage date for the James Murphy born 1834? One other problem. Barzella/Burzella/Brazilla, etc., I have married to Samuel Boyle on the same date, 4 Apr. 1823 in Garrard Co. as given for Brazilla marrying a William Ray. (I know that the Murphy Cem. gives Barzilla Murphy and says she was wife of William Ray. Would this be a William Ray Murphy? I can find no marriage or reference to these two except by the guesses placed in the Murphy Cem. with few dates listed. The surveyor of this cem. had often placed names in other cemeteries when they were actually in a cem. outside the State. That is the problem with taking someone's opinion or guess. Having said this, I reserve the right to be in error, it is an easy thing to do. Dear Fellow Listers: I am seeking assistance in straightening out two twisted together Harris families: Per "The Harris Family and Others" by Milus King Harris (1928): A Tyree Rodes Harris (son of Capt. Robert Harris and Lucretia Brown) married Sophy Herd. Tyree and Sophy begot Brightberry, John, Susan, Elijah, Annie and Bettie. The book further states that _Annie married Samuel McMullan of Garrard Co._ Per the will of (presumably another) Tyree Harris dated 1832, this Tyree had a wife named Rachel and sons Overton, Elijah, Russell, and daughters Patsy, Josephine, and _Ann McMullan. _Is it a coincidence that two Tyree Harris's each had daughters named Ann/Annie who married men named McMullan, or did two separate families claimed the same marriage, or were they the same men, or perhaps there is another explanation? Your help straightening out this confusion would be most appreciated. As a post script, any assistance with the marriage between the first Tyree Harris and Sophy Herd would also be welcome and also most appreciated. Fern, Just saw your Buford Website for the first time.? You have done a wonderful job and I was so excited to check and see if you had information on Col. Thomas Buford, son of James Buford who gave the land for the town of Lancaster, Garrard County, Ky.? Thomas ran a tavern in this town and built several homes, one of which I believe to be the SALTER HOUSE in Lancaster.? I have a deed dated 1820 that states that Thomas Buford lived on this site.? There is also a early federal style brick building called Buford's Tavern in our town. Our local historical society has just opened the house and we would love to be able to purchase your book for our library.? We are very small and have very little money but have a ten year plan to make this house a museum and research library.? The house was given to Garrard County by the state of Kentucky.? Hopefully this will protect the home but the future of the tavern is not so secure.? More details later if you are interested. Depending upon specific information that you need, it would help to knoew what you already have besides what you have posted. There is a grave for a John H. Eason in the Lusk Cem. no date for birth but a date of 1813 for when he died. There are marriage records and a cem. record for Rebecca Poe Eason in the Lancaster cem. Natually there are census records for this family as well. I just do not want to duplicate what you already have. Also, there could be family relations yet in the county or surrounding area that may be better qualified to respond. What trecords I have come from published transcribed records.
