Those genealogists who do not subscribe to the FREE Ancestry Weekly Newsletter are missing some valuable suggestions as to how to conduct research--articles by some well-qualified certified genealogists. If you do not subscribe, try it for a week or two. I admit I have missed some wonderful articles. I nearly always learn something new, even when the particular case history does not seem to apply to my ancestry. (But one never knows!!!) Here is the URL, as I remember it. I don't think it is daily anymore, but perhaps the webmaster retained the URL for *old times' sake*. I hope this works. Tell other subscribers about this. You address the e-mail to this URL and in the subject [remember that part of the e-mai?] and in the body write Subscribe. I always add my e-mail address in the body, but I don't think that is necessary. By the way, rootsweb always *wraps* URLs in punctuation marks, so remove those before you copy and paste in the address part of your e-mail. They are at the beginning and end so delete them!!! _Ancestry_Daily_News-L-request@rootsweb.com_ (mailto:Ancestry_Daily_News-L-request@rootsweb.com) This week, Sept 18, one of the main subjects is as in the subject of this e-mail. There is also information about a book concerning Native American research. ( A distant cousin tells me our common ancestor probably had a Native American first wife. Neither of us have verified it, but, with frontiersmen, who know? I understand from a University history professor that many of the Sco ts-Irish settlers had Native American mates.) Hey you guys - Why look a 'gift horse' in the mouth. All I've seen is grip grip grip - I have visited her site and as far as I'm concerned she has put a heck of a lot of work in it ... I for one was glad to see it and have used it to my advantage. Having my own website and doing all the work on it - I know for a fact that it isn't easy and of all the people who go to it and use and copy the information I have posted, I don't get a heck of a lot of "Thank you." Lighten up and just tell her "nice going Mary - Thanks for all your work." Do it - you'll feel good about your self. Fern K. Another note. In fact, I just found the book on Ancestry.com, so anyone who has that has access to these records. I think this was an advertisement, which was placed on several lists. I questioned her, as probably did others, because I'm naturally leery, and got no reply. However, the link is now broken, the message removed, so I'd not worry about it. She is listed in 1900 Garrard County census in the house hold of George W and Elizabeth Martin . She is age 17 and listed as granddaughter. Elizabeth's first marriage was to John Butcher in Rockcastle County in 1854. They had a son, Tolbert, born 1855 and then they divorced; Elizabeth remarried to George W Martin in 1860. Tolbert Butcher married Clarissa Emeline Lankford 1874 in Lincoln County, and I assume Sallie is their daughter. I have not found Tolbert or Emeline in the 1900 census. Any information will be appreciated. Gene Martin Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Gioe published 132 booklets of vital stats for various KY. counties, two of which were for Garrard Co. The booklets contain hundreds of names with births and marriages, but alas, NO source information! For more than 7 years I have searched at the History Center, the state archives, the Filson Society, Garrard Co., etc. for the data to NO avail. Five years ago I first posted a finder's fee of $75 for her original sources for the data listed for my James and Elizabeth Fuqua Baker (1780s-90s), but NO takers. The fee is still available. WHERE did Gioe find her data? (Her husband doesn't know either.) I am familiar with some of the births so know her data are not faked. HELP!!!
