Dear Garrard County list, What is the meaning of "MIN: 045" in the record below? Thank you. Jerry Radke [email protected] "Garrard County, Kentucky Marriage Records 1797 - 1853" Compiled by Bill and Kathy Vockery (128 Redwood Drive, Richmond, KY, 40475) for the Garrard County Historical Society, 1989 Reviewed at the Library of Congress (Call Number F457.G2 V64 1989) Page 49: "Groom: HOLEMAN, James; Bride: RAMSEY, Martha; Bond date: Jun 2 35; Bondsman: RAMSEY, Alex; Bond: 2361; Return Date: Jun 4 35; MIN: 045."
I think this means Minister #045, listed in the back of the book by no. - so they didn't have to list the same guy's name over and over in each marriage he performed, I guess. --- Jerry Radke <[email protected]> wrote: > Dear Garrard County list, > What is the meaning of "MIN: 045" in the record > below? > Thank you. > Jerry Radke > [email protected] > > "Garrard County, Kentucky Marriage Records 1797 > - 1853" > Compiled by Bill and Kathy Vockery (128 Redwood > Drive, Richmond, KY, 40475) > for the Garrard County Historical Society, 1989 > Reviewed at the Library of Congress (Call > Number F457.G2 V64 1989) > > Page 49: > "Groom: HOLEMAN, James; Bride: RAMSEY, Martha; > Bond date: Jun 2 35; Bondsman: RAMSEY, Alex; > Bond: 2361; Return Date: Jun 4 35; MIN: 045." > > > ============================== > To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion > online genealogy records, go to: > http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237 > __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Juliam Francis Matlock (8 Aug. 1926 - 2 Oct. 1946) He is in Section 27 Lot No. 21 grave 13. In grave 14 and 15 are perhaps his parents, Andrew Chester and Ella Jane Creech Matlock. She died in 1949, he in 1969. The 1920 census for Garrard Co. lists Andrew's family, but the census taker gives a Lulian E. Matlock, female age 5. No doubt should be Julian. Julian's father was born in VA. I am not sure if any of this family remains in the county. Others on the census were Bertha E. age 12, Virgie E. 10, Ivan R. 3, and Delia 11 mos.
Adam Cooper married Elizabeth Stroup/Stroop/Strupe in 1756.
Thanks to all of you who responded so fast. This is the reason I requested this information. To those of you who have researched some of the Coopers in the area of Montgomery County and in any direction for 70 + miles, there are some Coopers that do not tie to other Coopers. My cousin and I have been researching the Henry Cooper family (b.1760-Va) who first appeared on the Montgomery County Tax List about 1793 or so. For 5 years we had not been able to determine any parentage for this Henry Cooper. Quite by accident, we found a guardianship paper for Henry where he was appointed guardian of his younger brother George in Berkeley County, Va.(West Virginia now ). From there, we learned that his father was Adam Cooper (deceased 1783?) and then learned that Adam had an older son William. This is the William Cooper in Garrard County. We believe there are other siblings of Adam Cooper of which we have yet to discover. The current thinking is that some of these Coopers who show up in Madison, Morgan, Magoffin, Bourbon, etc could possible be Adams children. Adam married Elizabeth Stroup/Stroop/Strupe in 1856. Family size of that time would indicate a family larger than the four we currently know of. This William Cooper (Garrard County) lived in Loudoun County, Virginia, prior to his moving to Garrard County. It is our hope that we can obtain the dependency of William Cooper and be able to contact someone who may know more about Adam Cooper. We do not know who Adam Cooper's parents were but we do know that we connect to Valentine Cooper born 1745 in Maryland. William Cooper married Hannah Evans. We only know of one child at this time and she is Rosanna Cooper who married Benjamin Dunn. This was my reasoning for trying to find out the children's name so maybe I can find some of their descendants. Thank again and if I can help anyone, please contact me. Roger Cooper
If someone has the 1850 census of Garrard County, and has the opportunity, would you look up the Benjamin Dunn family and see what information is listed?. His wife's name should be Rosanna. Thanks.

There was one Matlock family (Andy) in Garrard Co. census in 1920 and several others in other counties in KY. Bless you for trying to find family members.

TN do have a 4-yr. old son named Meredith P. in the 1860 census but if he is the one who md. your Fannie Jones, he would have been only 16 at the time. I don't recall ever seeing a marriage of a man that young. (The women are another story!) In the 1870 census, in Bristol, Sullivan Co., TN, there is another Meredith Campbell, 23, with Louisa 19, and Edward A., 6 mos., all b TN. That same year, James D. and Catherine are in Garrard Co.. KY, but without Meredith, who would have been ca 14? Can't find your Meredith and Fannie in the 1880 census. Very confusing...

I'm searching for some specific families in Garrard. GARDNER, ISOM, WILMOT, MIDDLETON, UNDERWOOD Family #1 is, of course the GARDNER family, James married Matilda ISOM (possibly, thanks Barb:)), he had 4 children reportedly, John who married Lucy Pearl and moved to Montgomery Co., MO, Isom (possibly William Isom) no further information know, Azoriah (no further information known), and Elizabeth who married James R. WILMOT, Elizabeth is my direct line but I'd still like to find out what I can about the rest of the family. Family #2 actually lived in Garrard, Lincoln, Casey and Boyle, but the lived in Garrad more than the others and were married there as well, I believe. That is the family of Robert and Janetta MIDDLETON UNDERWOOD. They had a large family, including James m. Pauline (I have no surname for her, Luther m. Matilda Catherine WILMOT (this is my line she was the daughter of Elizabeth Gardner in family #1 above), William m. Mariah Wilmot (sister of Matilda Catherine Wilmot and another daughter of Elizabeth mentioned in family #1), Patterson, Lecrectia, Sally A, Virginia, Ally, Betsy and Mattie. The girls names may be duplicates of each other, each census I found them had different names, so I'm not sure right now. But the sons names stayed the same. Luther and Matilda Catherine had Elizabeth, John, Mariah, Mattie and possibly a Susan. There is much more detailed information on my website, but thats the basics:) Thanks for everyones time :) ttysoon Rena @>-^---- http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~wvmystica/

I am trying to locate a family member of the Benjamin Dunn/Rosanna Cooper marriage of January 10, 1831 in Garrard County, Kentucky. If anyone can help me, I would appreciate it. I believe Rosanna Cooper's father was William Cooper. He is believed to be related to my 5th generation grandfather, Henry Cooper (1760-Va).
This site is really hopping!! Just a reminder. I'm researching STRANGE, ROBARDS & Merritts; especially death date of Elizabeth MERRITT. They were in Lancaster, Garrard Co. in the 1820-50s or 60's & 70's too. Thanks, Georgiann in Montana
