The 1810 census does give Collins' name as Sie? age 42 but also has a ? after Collins also. Mollie 35 married 12 years, John F. 9, Lou 3, Henry 4, and Lillie M. 22 mos. Quite a difference when you do not have access to the original.

I had looked in Harold Kurtz's publication of the same census and could not find the family you found. So, I need your help as apparently Kurtz has missed this family and perhaps others? I looked throughout the Union Precinct but never found the family or a District #4. There was a District # 4 in the Paint Lick Precinct, but still no luck. If you can supply me with this Collins innumeration and household number plus the names of the two households on either side of the Collins, I can add them to my copy of the book. Hope that you can, Gerald Tudor

    2. Rita Fox
    3. Well, it's that time again--putting the finishing touches on the Summer 2003 issue and I have room for a few more queries. Paint Lick Reflections is a quarterly publication that is mailed to 32 states (and Canada) and reaches 600 households. Additional copies are sold at Garrard and Madison Co. locations. It's a great way to reach people who may not be on the internet. If you have a NEW query to run and it focuses on Garrard and Madison county families, please send it to me at [email protected] You MUST include a US (or International) mailing address because many of my readers are not on the internet--but can offer you valuable help the old-fashioned way. If I get more queries than I can run this time, I'll just use them in the next issue, which is due out in October. (This one is a month behind because of a computer crash, but is expected to be mailed by mid August.) Thanks! 1. [KYGARRAR] Lewis, Justis/Justice, Luster/Lister
    2. Chris Hansen
    3. These families came through Garrard Co KY on their way to IN and IA. Jonathan LEWIS, b.ca 1782 MD, and his next door neighbor Charles JUSTIS received a letter in 1846 from Claib JUSTIS. They were living near Sulpher Springs in Henry Co IND. The Justice research I have seen gives Claiborn's birthplace as Carter Co TN. Claiborn wrote them from Brighton, IA Territory, to encourage them to come west. Claib addresses the letter to Jonathan 'My Dear Uncle'. I would like to hear from anyone who may know how Jonathan LEWIS is uncle to Claib JUSTIS. Also I will be happy to share the letter with anyone who is interested. Claib sends his regards to A and John LEWIS, both sons of Jonathan, as well as James LUSTER & wife. James LUSTER was married to Esther LEWIS, daughter of Jonathan. Jonathan LEWIS brought his family to IA by 1849, settling first in Polk Co and later in Guthrie County. His sons Abraham settled near Claib JUSTIS in Brighton Washington Co IA (census 1850) before moving on to Polk Co. Looking for help with the LEWIS/JUSTIS connection.
