    3. In the Garrard Co Cemetery Book is shows it to be on White Lick Rd. My Ky atlas shows White Lick Rd going from Lancaster towards Paint Lick on RT 52 turn right on White Lick Rd.. It looks like White Lick runs south down to 954 and 954 also connects to RT 52 after you leave Lancaster but before Manse. Don't see the cemetery on the map. The last time I was looking for something there, I went to the Library and they have a wonderful Garrard Co map called "Beard's" and most of the family graveyards are on that map. Good luck. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/xAB.2ACI/2193 Message Board Post: Last Chance for Kentucky Death Certificate CD. I am putting the finishing touches on the Kentucky Death Certificate CD and it is set to be mailed out by Feb 7, 2004. There is still time to get involved though. If you have Death Certificates with a KENTUCKY connection, born, died or lived any part of their lives in Kentucky and would like to be a part of this project. E-mail your scanned JPEG death certificates to me at [email protected] The cost for the CD is $2.00 per CD (not death certificate) this will cover shipping and handling and the cost of the CD. The only stipulation is that you MUST donate atleast one death certificate to the project. However, the more each of us donate the larger the project will be. As of Feb 1, 2004 I currently have 1,800 death certificates that will be included on the CD. If this project proves to be a success I hope to continue it and put out one CD every six months or until there is no more interest in the Death Certificates. 1. [KYGARRAR] Mary Kirby/Brandy Springs/1870-1900?
    2. Jennifer
    3. Dear Good Folks of the Garrard County, Kentucky List, I have been searching for information that would lead to identifying who my great grandmother was. She is shown living with the John Mitchell family in Brandy Springs in the 1880 Garrard County census. She is listed as a servant who cooks for the family. My grandfather was born in December of 1880. And he was evidently gone from home by 1900. So I really have no record of his being the son of Mary Kirby and John Mitchell. Mary and John had three other children, and John had three sons from his marriage to Mary Higginbotham before she died in 1873. I would VERY MUCH like to place my grandfather with John and Mary in the years between 1880 and 1900. And I would love to know who Mary Kirby was. Would anyone be able to suggest a Garrard County source of identifying information I may not have thought of? Perhaps there were county directories? Or, perhaps, records of other kinds that are not commonly known to amateur genealogists such as myself. I would be beholdin' for any suggestions you might provide of other avenues I might investigate. Thank you for your time. Sincerely, Jennifer

The only online census sources I know of are through Heritage Quest, a library subscription service (you might check with your area libaries to see if they subscribe) and the paid services such as ancestry.com which I have never used. Other sites sell CDs of such material. The LDS has many census and other records on microfilm. Search their catalog at familysearch.org or stop by your local LDS Family History Center. They have very helpful volunteers at most of their centers. Some county rootsweb sites have posted some of their own censuses - you would have to search for them. I would suggest an advanced Google search on the county and state, the year and the word census. Beware of commerical sites... This site has a census index for 1860 Garrard Co.: ftp://ftp.us-census.org/pub/usgenweb/census/ky/garrard/1860/ Finally, there are the branches of the National Archives if you happen to be lucky enough to live near one of them (K.C. MO, Ft.Worth TX, Atlanta GA, and a couple of others out west I think, plus D.C., of course. (You can probably find them all listed at archives.gov). Good luck!
