He died, February 5, 1898, in his daughters, Nancy Messer, home. He is buried in the Petrey Memorial Baptist Church cemetery, Walkertown, KY. He married Elizabeth (Polly) Combs, probably in 1833. She was born, December 6, 1820. She died, July 29, 1893.
