    3. Good morning Mary Jane: According to the foreword to my blue-bound book Frankfort Cemetery . . . in Kentucky, copyright 1988 by The Kentucky Genealogical Society, Inc., the Frankfort Cemetery was incorporated in early 1845 (only the 2nd incorporated cemetery in the U.S.), with burials beginning in 1846. Prior to the development of Frankfort Cemetery, "there was no recognized public, general, cemetery for Frankfort. Some churches outside of Frankfort had their own cemeteries. The nearest thing to a general public cemetery was the one around the hilltop on Leestown Pike now known as Bellevue Cemetery. It was located in the Thorn Hill area, between US 421 and Fifth Street. Several prominent and distinguished Kentuckians were buried there prior to 1845 . . . remains from at least some of these citizens were removed later to Frankfort Cemetery, but some may remain in Bellevue" Also, the remains of Daniel Boone and his wife Rebecca, which were reburied in Frankfort Cemetery in 1845 from their orig! inal burial site in Missouri. From the wording in this foreword, it sounds as though the Bellevue Cemetery still exists (although "by the 1840's this area (Bellevue) was becoming crowded, and a notice was published that no more burials could be made there"). But I don't know if it is maintained or whether it is on public or private property. Does anybody know? Please respond to the list, if anybody has any information! I guess other burials were in private cemeteries on farms? There is only one burial for a BARTLETT in this book. Although it is not your g g grandparent, it may be of some value to you: In the book on page 305 (in Section O of the cemetery): Bartlett, Mattie V. / Wife of W.F. Bartlett / Nov 8, 1847 - Apr 2, 1893 I believe the current caretaker for the cemetery is Mr. Jim Richardson. Contact information for the cemetery is: Frankfort Cemetery 215 East Main Frankfort, KY 40601 Telephone: (502) 227-2403 Good luck! Do you have the phone number for the cemetery? My g g grandparents died in Franklin County around 1835. I have never been able to find their graves. Mary Jane Bartlett Conrades
