    1. Perkins - 1880 U.S. Census - Benson

    3. I've found a family in the 1880 census in Benson, Franklin County, and I'm trying to determine if the James H. Perkins listed as a son could be the James that I've been searching for the past 5 years or so. The age would fit, but I don't know how to go about verifying or ruling out this family. I have a James Perkins, born January 1872 in Kentucky, married Martha "Belle" Hawkins on August 4, 1894, in Owen County, Kentucky. Their son, Hobert, was my grandfather. I've found them on the 1900 Owen County census. They were living with Belle's parents in the Hesler precinct. James has been my brick wall from the very beginning. My grandfather died in 1963 and I barely remember him, but my cousin said that he had told her that his parents died when he was very young and that the Hawkins family raised him. Here is the listing from the census. If you are related or have knowledge of this family, I would be very grateful if you could reply to me. Thanks in advance. Perkins, William/age 54/b.
