    1. Re: [KYFRANKL] Perkins - 1880 U.S. Census - Benson
    2. Vicki, It looks as if your James H. Perkins was not the son of William and Margaret E. Long Perkins. I found him in the 1900 & 1910 census' of Louisville, Jefferson Co.,Ky. The reason I know that this is the Jas H. Perkins, son of Wm. & Margaret is he is living with his sister Margaret Melissa Perkins (McKensie, married name). See census below 1910 Jefferson Co.,Ky.-Louisville-Story Avenue Malissa McKensie, head, 52, Wd., 0 children, 0 living, b. Ky x3, own income, rents James H. Perkins, brother, 37, Wd., b. Ky x3, train dispatcher, rents ==================== Here he is again in the 1900 census with his wife, before she died leaving him the widower stated in above census. Their marriage would have been in 1896. 1900 Jefferson Co.,Ky. Census--Louisville--Stoll Ave. James Perkins, Boarder, June 1871, 28, marr'd 4 yrs, b. Ky., Va., Ky., Train Dispatcher Emma Perkins, Boarder, b. 1875, 24, marr'd 4 yrs, 0 children, 0 living, b. Georgia x3 Above are living in household of the Landrum family. ==================== The other James H. Perkins I pointed out to you from Shelby Co.,Ky. is also not your Jas H. because he died March 7, 1891 (before your James & Martha Belle's marriage) and is buried in the Roberts, Perkins, Clark cemetery in Shelby Co. Here is what his tombstone says: Perkins, James H./Son of F.J. & R.S. Perkins-- Another link is broken/In our household band,/But a chain is forming in a better land.--The name James H. is slightly arched and above it is a sculpture of a hand pointing upward. F.M. initialed J.H.P. Where did you get the initial H. for James? It isn't mentioned in the Owen Co. 1900 Census. Phyllis

    3. Yes, you're right. The age doesn't fit either. I don't know that James' middle initial was H. I just found a James Perkins in the 1880 Franklin County census whose middle initial was "H" and whose age matched and I was hoping someone would have some information that might either confirm or deny that this was my James Perkins. My grandfather's name was Hobert, so the "H" was definitely a possibility. Thank you for the information.
