    3. Another thought occurs Lance, Some of the later descendents of this Nation clan also ended up in Illinois, according to another online tree. Sangamon, is the city to be exact, but no idea in which county it resides. This person was Henry Harrison Nation (name connection?) born 28 Jan 1881 and died 17 Jan 1969 in Springfield. The online tree does not list Henry's father, but it did list him as the grandson of John Thomas Nation, who was the son of John Branscom, who was the son of John, who was the son of Joseph, Jr. Just another line in which to take a look. 3. Hey Lance, I don't have a complete documentation of the Nation family history, but I do know they centered around Spencer County, with spillover into Shelby and Anderson. I have cousins who married into this line. The oldest Nation in my own tree is a Joseph Nation, Sr. (Bet 1760-1770) who came from somewhere to Mercer County. The one child that starts this line ended up in Spencer County. His sone, Joseph, Jr. (abt 1797) did have at least 7 known children, one being named William. I have him listed as being born about 1839, so he could possibly be your William Hamilton, but I don't know enough about what happened to him to even know. I have no idea who he married. I have not studied this line a great deal, except those more recent families in the Spencer area pertaining to my own tree. I don't know if Joseph Jr. ever lived or traveled around the local counties, but it is a real possibility. My guess, however, is that any Nation in this area all came from the same Nation line that came into Kentucky. Perhaps, this would be a good place for you to start looking. Check more into the Josephs to see what more you can learn about them. 3. Lance, I've checked my copy of Church and Family Graveyards of Franklin County put out by The Kentucky Genealogical Society, Inc. in 1976. There are no listings of the Nation surname. Franklin County, Kentucky Birth Records, Volumes I and II by Frances T. Ingmire have nothing, either, but they are both too late for your time frame; as is her Death Records. 2. I am a descendant of the Thomas Foster who was in Franklin Co. in 1828. He was b. abt. 1777 and d. in 1842 in Franklin Co. He was buried in the Foster/Ayres cemetery. He was married to Lucy Marshall 16 Jan 1802 in Fauquier Co. VA. I have been unable to trace this line back beyond this particular Thomas Foster. Any information would greatly appreciated.
