    3. I am continuing my everlasting search for John Cunningham, my 3rd. great grandfather. He married Sally Hickman in 1799 in Franklin County, KY. I have lots of information about his wife and sons, Fountain and William, but cannot find John's ancestry. I suspect he came from Virginia since his area of KY was settled by folks from there. He was probably Baptist since his wife was the daughter of William Hickman, a well-known Baptist preacher in Franklin County. Both sons migrated to Henderson County, KY and are well documented there. Any information, or tips for research, will be greatly appreciated. Sue Russell

    3. George, Have you read through the History of Franklin County, Ky, by L. F. Johnson, B.A., M.A.? I have the 1912 edition of this book and a Ben B. Bennett is mentioned as serving in the Mexican War. This would be much later than those you are seeking. There is also a mention of a Judge by the name of Caswell Bennett. There are many records at the LDS FHC's for Franklin County, Kentucky. You've probably exhausted all of the above sources, but I thought I would at least take a moment to respond to your query. Best of luck with breaking down or going around your wall. 3. John Cunningham married Sally Hickman in Franklin County, KY in 1799. She was the daughter of William Hickman, a Baptist minister. I am seeking John's parents. I have seen this reference "Birth 1776 in Cumberland, Cumberland, Virginia, USA" in someone's online family tree, but it is unproven though I suspect he did come from Virginia as did most of the folks in that part of KY at that time. There are lots of John Cunninghams in early Virginia records, but I have no idea how to identify my John from all of those. John and Sally had 2 sons, Fountain and William, who moved to Henderson County, KY about 1824 just after John's death. Both sons are well documented in Henderson. Any ideas about finding John's ancestry will be greatly appreciated. Sue Russell
