Morris Sullivan, my great grandmother's brother, came to the US in 1857 and settled in Frankfort, KY. On Oct. 20, 1868, he married Johannah Sheehan at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church. For many years he and his family lived in a duplex house on east Main St. My great grandparents, Daniel and Briget Sullivan Callahan, lived in the other duplex. Morris Sullivan died Feb.16, 1917 and is buried in Frankfort Cemetery. Johanna Sullivan died April 28, 1923 and is buried in the Frankfort Cemetery. Their names are not in the Frankfort Cemetery Book, so I presume they have no head stone. Would like an obit on Morris and/or Johannah, if possible. Failing that, I would like to know if there are any descendants of this couple still living. Any help in this area would be appreciated. Bill Brinly

Searching for the identity of a male in the household of William Redding, of Franklin Co., KY. This male is in the 5-10 age group in the 1830 census and in the 15-20 age group in the 1840 Franklin Co., KY census. By 1850 when his siblings were named he had left the “nest”. Any help would be appreciated. Best Regards, Dave Redding [email protected]
Charlotte, What I have are cds that list only name of groom, name of bride, date and location of marriage. I'll look this up tomorrow when I have a day off work ... I work 6 days a week right now. Kentucky is notorious for keeping bad records before 1900s so please don't be too hopeful. Barb Barbara (MANLEY) Hernden ge-ne-al-o-gist: n. 1. a person who spends more time searching for dead relatives than spending time with living relatives. 2. a person who can not remember his own wedding anniversary but knows his great-great-grandmother's birthdate. 3. a person who spends a lot of time talking with others about long-time deceased people. 4. a person with no other hobbies. I'm looking for a marriage record of William Boyd Short, married to Caroline Wariner or Warren. Their only child, Charles McPherson Short. On Charles death certificate it mentions his parents names.. The closest that I can figure out that William probably got married in the late 60's but no later then 1872, because that's when Charles McPherson Short was born. I have not been able to place William Boyd Short on the 1870 census. So I want to think that he was married after 1870 but no later then 1872. Remember Charles was born in 1872. If you happen to have a marriage record book on hand could you please check the index. for William Boyd Short and Caroline Wariner or Warren. Charlotte
Col. William Price (wife, Mary Cunningham) settled in Fayette Co., KY before it became Jessamine County. His son, James C. Price (killed at River Raisin) was born in Halifax Co., VA in 1779. His daughter, Mary, married Col. Joseph Prewitt (Pruitt) of Jessamine County. Joseph was first married to Leah Moss, "possibly" of Halifax Co. VA. In Green and Adair counties KY there is a strong Moss/Price family presence as well. I am in contact with a descendant of a William Price who has a Graves and Moss family connection in Green and Adair counties. His family seems to have come from Halifax County VA too and also is an exact DNA match with descendants of the above Col. William Price and John Price referred to in the next paragraph. We have recently found from DNA, that a descendant of John Price (wife, Susannah Gano, daughter of Rev. John Gano) is an exact DNA match with a descendant of Col. William Price. John Price married Betsey Major in Woodford County KY in the early 1790's. He most likely resided in Fayette County before Woodford was formed and then he died in Franklin in 1836. Col. William Price's son, Winfrey Ebenezer, made a statement that his father was born in Prince Edward County VA, not Stafford County VA as has been widely accepted. Pugh Price's family ended up in KY early and I personally believe John and William are of his family. General Sterling Price is a descendant of Pugh Price so I would love to hear from anyone with connections to him also. I do have the book by Vina Chandler which gives good clues that help on this family, but I'm looking for more primary evidence. Before going to KY, William Price's family moved to Spotsylvania County, VA area. It appears to me they belonged to a Baptist church that bordered on Orange County, VA. Both John and William Prices families were strong Baptists, some starting for KY in 1781 with Lewis Craig's "Travelling Church". I would be very interested in hearing from anyone who descends from William or John Price or Joseph Prewitt or anyone who connects to these men through the Moss, Bryan or Graves families. The Bryan family lived in Northern Neck VA area before they went to North Carolina and then on to early KY. Please let me hear from you if you have any of these connections or interests. You are welcome to contact me personally if you would rather at: [email protected] Thank you for your time.--Linda

I am looking for any information on Mary Jane Martha Crockett, dau. of William Crockett of Bridgeport, Franklin Co. KY. I would like to know her birth and death date, where she is buried, and the death date and burial site of her two husbands: James A. Acton and John Peters. Mary Jane was b. between 1800-15 in Bridgeport. She first married James A. Acton in 1835 and married John Peters in 1846. She had two children: William Dandridge Acton and Mary Jane Acton. I have William's information but do not have any information on her dau. or if she had more children with John Peters. On the 1840 census, she and Mary Jane were living with her father in Bridgeport and her son, William, was living with his uncle, Mary Jane's brother, Anthony Crockett. Except for her marriage date to Peters, I know nothing about her. Any help would be appreciated. Nora
Hi List, I am trying to verify some information I found on the web a long time ago. Maybe someone can help me verify this fact. I cannot drive so getting to a library or FHC is out of the question. Also, no public transportation. My request is simple. I would like to know if the following quote is accurate and she was a teacher at Frankfort: "It was at Frankfort that Robina taught the first high school for girls that was taught in the state of Kentucky. This was, perhaps, in 1802 or 1803. (1) (1) From the webpage of Alan and Mindy Ewing - Chapter 1" Her full name was Robina (nee Scott) EWING. She was the wife of James EWING and they came to KY from Scotland abt. 1800. This is my husband's direct line and I would like to prove or disprove this information. Thanks for any information that will prove or disprove this info. The genealogy pages for Alan and Mindy EWING do not work anymore. I just tried Google and got their website but nothing would come up under Genealogy. Sue in Florida [email protected]
Yes, you're right. The age doesn't fit either. I don't know that James' middle initial was H. I just found a James Perkins in the 1880 Franklin County census whose middle initial was "H" and whose age matched and I was hoping someone would have some information that might either confirm or deny that this was my James Perkins. My grandfather's name was Hobert, so the "H" was definitely a possibility. Thank you for the information. Vicki, It looks as if your James H. Perkins was not the son of William and Margaret E. Long Perkins. I found him in the 1900 & 1910 census' of Louisville, Jefferson Co.,Ky. The reason I know that this is the Jas H. Perkins, son of Wm. & Margaret is he is living with his sister Margaret Melissa Perkins (McKensie, married name). Vicki, I have two James H. Perkins in my database and they are approximately the same age, born in 1872, but of course they have different parents. However, I do not have a spouse for either of them which would tell you which one it is that you are looking for. The James H. Perkins that you have the 1880 Census for was born in Franklin Co.,Ky. of parents, William Perkins and Margaret E. Long. I do not have another census on James yet. 1880 Franklin Co.,Ky.--Benson Dist. I've found a family in the 1880 census in Benson, Franklin County, and I'm trying to determine if the James H. Perkins listed as a son could be the James that I've been searching for the past 5 years or so. The age would fit, but I don't know how to go about verifying or ruling out this family. I have a James Perkins, born January 1872 in Kentucky, married Martha "Belle" Hawkins on August 4, 1894, in Owen County, Kentucky. Their son, Hobert, was my grandfather. I've found them on the 1900 Owen County census. They were living with Belle's parents in the Hesler precinct. James has been my brick wall from the very beginning. My grandfather died in 1963 and I barely remember him, but my cousin said that he had told her that his parents died when he was very young and that the Hawkins family raised him. Here is the listing from the census. If you are related or have knowledge of this family, I would be very grateful if you could reply to me. Thanks in advance. Perkins, William/age 54/b. I found it at Mid-Continent Library in Independence, MO. I am sure they probably have it at the Kentucky Historical Society, too, but didn't check there. Funny, since we spent 2 weeks there before we went to Independence. There is so, so much at the KY Historical Society. I would highly recommend it for anyone doing KY research. It is my favorite place to research, anywhere!
