    1. Re: [KYFRANKL] Cemetery books
    2. Thanks Virginia for answering my query. I was really hoping that Franklin County would have researched these cemeteries even if they were not in Anderson County since that County has nothing on them. His Will was published in Franklin County so that gave me some new hope. Again thanks for your time. Roberta Summers

    3. Hello Roberta: I do NOT have cemetery books for the area that now encompasses Anderson County, so unfortunately I cannot help with your request for burials of John and Christiana Thompson who died in Anderson Co in 1825 and 1835. I DO have cemetery books for the FRANKFORT CEMETERY in Franklin County, Frankfort, KY, which was established in the late 1840's. I am happy to do look-ups for people who may have relatives or ancestors buried there. There is no on-line site for this cemetery. Note, however, that the LEXINGTON CEMETERY (Fayette Co) in Lexington, KY has an excellent, free on-line site for genealogy research. This cemetery was established about 1850. Also, the GEORGETOWN CEMETERY (Scott Co) in Georgetown, KY has an excellent, free on-line site for genealogy research. This cemetery was established about 1850. General public cemeteries with "perpetual care" were not really established until the 1850's. In fact, the cemetery in Frankfort is believed to be only the second incorporated general public "rural garden concept" cemetery established in the U.S. (the first being near Boston). Prior to that time cemeteries were usually on privately owned property (farms, backyards, or even vacant lots that were subsequently developed without regards to the buried remains) or on church property and were frequently only maintained so long as family members survived and maintained them. Good luck! 2. Hi All, I am new to the list and I am wondering if someone would have a cemetery book for the area and would they be kind enough to look up the following persons for me? The graves I am looking for would be John & Christiana Thompson. John died in 1825 before Anderson County was formed and I believe he lived in the Gilbert Creek area and Christiana died around 1835. Really would appreciate your help. Thanks. Roberta Summers

    1. Re: [KYFRANKL] A MOORE Mystery
    2. I don't know the birth dates for Laura and Sarah. In the 1880 census, Laura was 12 and Sarah was 8. I have no way if knowing if the William Walter Moore you listed is the correct one. May be that Jane P. Dean can shed some light on his first marriage if one is indicated. As for Sarah being the daughter of Jarret Moore rather than William Moore, Sarah of Jarret Moore would have been 10 years old in 1889 while the Sarah of William Moore would have been 17 years old, a much more likely age for marriage. Jarret Moore and William Moore were half brothers. Both were sons of Jarret Moore(Sr.). N.J. McDaniel was a brother in law to both Moore brothers. My grandfather, James Clay Moore, was a half brother to William and a full brother to Jarret, Jr. and the 15th child of Jarret, Sr. Thanks for you response and interest. Bill Brinly

    1. Re: [KYFRANKL] A MOORE Mystery
    2. Bill, Did their marriage records happen to mention their ages? That would be a big help since there were so many Moore families in Franklin Co. Could this be your Walter Moore (click on link below). I don't have the name of his first wife, who could be Laura B. Moore. Notice I had their marriage as abt 1889, same as the marriage you have for Walter & Laura. Walter's next marriage was only 8 yrs from his first, so Laura may have died young....if this is the right Walter? This page is from my GEDCOM on World Connect. _RootsWeb's WorldConnect Project: Yesteryear's Footsteps_ (http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=pshcth4&id=I03944) Regarding your Sarah F. 1. A MOORE Mystery
    2. In 1889, the two daughters of William Moore and Louisa Rose, were married in Franklin County, KY. Laura B. Moore was married to Walter Moore on 20 Nov 1889 at Bellpoint. Bondsman was T. C. Hale. Witness: James Moore(Laura's Brother), N. J. McDaniel, John and Lavina Hale. Sarah F. Moore was married to James W. Moore on 5 Dec 1889 at Antioch. Bondsman was William Moore. Witness:? Moore and Jarret Moore. What happened to these couples? I can find no trace of them. Not having the 1890 census only complicates matters. I would appreciate hearing from anyone with info concerning these missing Moore's. Bill Brinly

    1. Moore-Kirby
    2. In "Moore Marriages In Franklin County, KY", there is a listing for Ernest A. Moore and Clara B. Kirby, dated 16 Oct 1895. Wit. Amanda Hundley and Jesse Kirby. I believe Ernest A. Moore to be the son of Nicholas Moore and Deliah Brooks, born in Madison County in 1875. If this is true, than Amanda Hundley is Nicholas Moore's sister and an aunt to Ernest Moore. The same Ernest Moore married Pearl S. Frakes, 26 Dec 1900 in Jeffersonville, IN. Did Clara die? Did they have any children? Any information concerning this marriage appreciated. Also, would like to know what happened to Pearl S. Frakes after Earnest died in 1910 in Louisville from appendicitis. Thanks, Bill Brinly

    1. DNA challenge
    2. I am the administrator for a Haydon Family DNA Project. I offer to help any one interested in this new way to identify our family members. The hosting network is called Family Tree DNA or more often just referred to as FTDNA.com. The Haydon Family yDNA is unique and offers an easy and very accurate way to separate the Haydon's from the numerous Hayden's in Kentucky (including those who changed the spelling of their name). The only problem with the project is that it is for males only who descended down the Haydon line. You women can only participate by encouraging your father, brother, uncle or cousin to take the DNA test. The test consists of swabbing your cheeks and returning the DNA sample to the testing facility to FTDNA who, in turn, sends it to the University of Arizona for the lab work. As with almost everything in life there is some cost, about $99. The money goes to FTDNA and the University of Arizona, not me. I will be glad to answer any questions regarding this subject. Robert Haydon
