    2. The Days Inn on US 127, exit 58 I-64 maybe the cheepest, most of them run around $50-$60 or more. The best is the Hampton on US 127. Best is just call and get rates. Mike

    2. The Super8 has always worked out for me. they don't offer much in the way of breakfast. they are close to places to eat and extremely close to the Libraries and Archives without having to get on the Interstate. their price is in the $40's. Dan

    1. [KYFRANKL] FITZGEREL Family Photograph
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph of one of the children of Mrs. R. S. FITZGEREL which was taken at the Mattern Studio in Frankfort, KY. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1890's or early 1900's with the infant in the photograph about 1 year old. Mrs. FITZGEREL'S homestead is noted as being the house east of the School House. Someone has also written "God Bless you Sister" on the front of the photograph. I don't know if this means the baby was a girl or not. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding this family: Robert S. FITZGEREL was b. 1868 in Kentucky to parents Richard Henry FITZGEREL (b. 1840) and Mary Jane FITZGERALD (1845-1937) or Mary Patricia OWENS (b. 1848) or Mary F. FITZGEREL. He was one of 5 children born to this couple including, Robert S.; Carry S.; Harriet E.; William T.; and Bascom FITZGEREL, all born between 1868 and 1879. Robert married Annie L. FITZGEREL and they had 5 children including Carrie E. FITZGEREL (1908 or 1909-1995). Census records provide the following detail: 1920 census of Elmville, KY: Robert S. FITZGEREL, age 51, born KY, parents born KY, a Shop Owner Anna L. FITZGEREL, wife, age 29, born KY, parents born KY Carrie FITZGEREL, dau, age 11, born KY Jessie FITZGEREL, son, age 8, born KY Richard FITZGEREL, son, age 6, born KY Joe W. FITZGEREL, son, age 3, born KY Clara F. FITZGEREL, dau, age 5 months, born KY I am hoping to locate someone from the family so that this photograph can be returned to their care. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

    1. [KYFRANKL] Thomas Pierce/Perce Demaree of Frankfort, Kentucky, Sarah Agnes Hawkins, and Jesse Demaree
    2. James A. Cassidy via
    3. Thomas Pierce/Perce Demaree was born a slave in the house hold of Samuel Demaree in Henry County, Kentucky ca. 1853. After freedom he remained with the family of Samuel Demaree, Jr., Betsey and their brother John Milton Demaree. Pierce married Phoebe Rucker 1 Feb. 1901, John M. Demaree married the couple. Phoebe born ca. 1850 was the daughter of Charles Rucker born a slave in 1815 and his wife Ann born 1825, slaves of Elias and his wife Mary J. Rucker. Creed Rucker was her brother. Pierce moved to Frankfort, Kentucky after Phoebe’s death to live with his sister Sarah Agnes Hawkins, the wife of Robert Calvin Hawkins after 1920. The family lived in the neighbor of Wilkerson, Logan and 3rd Street. The children of Sara Agnes were Cleveland,Alexander or Kirck, Jordan, Rose, Mamie and Edward. Sarah Agnes died at age 66, 29 Jan. 1937 living on Mere Street probably with her daughter Mrs. Jospeh White and is buried in Green hill Cem. Robb Funeral home conducted the services. Pierce’s son Jesse and his wife Catherine Madison also lived in Frankfort on 2nd St. next to Murray with their children, Lou Agnes, Abbie, Robert, Katherine and John. The children attended the May Underwood school. Jesse was a Janitor in a theater. Jesse was deceased by 7 July 1948 and was also buried in Greenhill Cemetery. But Pierce’s death date is unknown. After the death of his sister Agnes, had he been living, he most likely would have moved in with his son Jess, but he does not appear on the 1940 census. He worked as a Janitor both in an area church, perhaps First Corinthian Baptist Church and at the capital. Pierce had his arm amputated after he was shot in Henry County by the KKK. His death date and burial location are what I am seeking. His grandchildren were Lou Agnes Cane, Abbie Hill, Katherine Cane, Robert Demaree and John Demaree. Lou Agnes, Abbie and Katherine were all active in their H. S. class reunions for many years. Help would be appreciated. Thank you Judy Cassidy

    1. [KYFRANKL] Naturalization Records
    2. My great grandfather Daniel Callahan came to Frankfort around 1860 from Ireland. Where would be the best place to find his naturalization record. His future wife and my future great grandmother Bridget Sullivan came earlier, maybe with her mother or brother Morris Sullivan. Any help appreciated. Bill Brinly

    1. [KYFRANKL] Grave of Rosie Sheets Moore
    2. Hattie Moore, the daughter of Nicholas Moore and Rosie Sheets Moore, is buried in The Antioch Church Cemetery in Frankfort, KY. Nicholas Moore is buried in the Salem Church Cemetery in Brandenburg, Meade County, KY. Does anyone know where the grave of Rosie Sheets Moore is located ? Hattie died 8 May 1913. Nicholas Moore died 26 Sep 1939. Nicholas Moore and Rosa Sheets were married 27 Feb 1895 in Frankfort, KY. On 25 May 1910, Nicholas Moore married Sallie Cobb in Frankfort, KY. This means that Rosa Sheets was either dead or they were divorced. The 1920 census shows Nicholas, Sallie and a daughter Sara Moore 19. This seems to indicate that Nicholas and Rosa Sheets had a second daughter born in 1901 as well as Hattie born in 1899. Nothing is known about Sara after the 1920 census. Any info about this situation will be greatly appreciated. Nicholas Moore is my grandfather's brother. Bill Brinly
