Do you know why elizabeth franklin needed a guardian for her Hackworth children? Was this a common custom when a child's father passed away, that the mother had to take on a guardian back then? Thanks for your help! I am in touch with a woman who might have some information on the Franklins. If I understand correctly there were Franklins from Floyd and Franklins from Maggofin.
