I am of this family as well. They are very complicated to say the least. I have spent many hours researching the Lewis lines! My mother was a Lewis. Here is a bit of what I know. There are many Johns, Thomas, Martha, Mary Benjamins Edwards etc. which makes tracking them harder. Some Lewis lines came from Wales. I am a grand daughter of a Thomas Sr Lewis. He and his brother Benjamin can be found in Va and then Floyd. This is such a long story so I will try to summarize. In his later years, Thomas claimed he was from Portugal. Some records say Va. Ben and Thomas both went to Floyd Co Kentucky. Thomas had 3 wives and a whole bunch of children. The last wife Delilah Blankenship, is one of my grandmothers. They gave birth to a Christopher Columbus Lewis, my g g grandfather. I think Matilda is Benjamin's daughter. I think she married John Lewis, one of Thomas sons. John was born to Thomas with his first wife, Elizabeth ( lost maiden name) His second wife was Elizabeth Burchett. John Lewis and Matilda had Hannah 1824, Parker 1831, Miranda, Louisa, Harmon, Joseph, Catherine and maybe another boy or two. Miranda may have married another Lewis of which I am again related. Lewis, Burchett, Blankenship, Galloways and others show up in Floyd Co and are neighbors. My line is Mom ,1928, James Lewis Jr. 1907, George Thomas Lewis, Christopher Columbus Lewis and Nancy Ann Galloway, Thomas Sr Lewis and Delilah Blankenship. Thomas parents are unclear and I cant remember off hand who Delilah's parents were. I am very interested in your information. I guess we are cousins! I can probably help more. My brain is getting old and I cant remember all of this info. Luckily we have ancestry to store it all for us! Sharon Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
