He was born in Floyd Co., Kentucky on March 28, 1933 to Ed & Anna (Dalton) Johnson. Elmer married the former Chirley G. Manns on October 3, 1959 in Clintwood, Virginia and she survives. He was a member of the White Oaks Road Freewill Baptist Church and for 21 years was employed with Marion Casting until his retirement in 1985. Surviving along with his wife are a son, Joseph (Sherri) Dalton of Marion, Ohio; 2 daughters, Evelyn (Chuck) Spencer & Darla (Randy) Lane both of Marion; a brother, John (Shannon) Dalton of Floyd County, Kentucky; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren. Elmer was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sons, John & Elmer Lee Dalton; 4 brothers; and 4 sisters. Friends may call at the White Oaks Rd. Freewill Baptist Church on Friday, May 31, 2013, from 1:00 p.m. until service time at 3:00 p.m.Friday. Burial will follow in the Grand Prairie Cemetery.
