Obituary for George Campbell. Floyd County Times,Thursday 1-25-1962 (this newspaper on microfilm in Ashland Public Lib collection) as follows: George Campbell, 69, of the Town Branch section here, died Thursday of last week at the Prestonsburg General Hospital. Death was due to a heart attack. He was a retired miner. Mr. Campbell was a son of Harve and Nancy Nelson Campbell. His wife Opal Cavins Campbell, survives. Surviving sons and a daughter are Harris, James, Ernest, Ollie and George Campbell, Jr., all of Prestonsburg, John Campbell, Columbus,Ohio, and Mrs.Mary Strickland, also of Prestonsburg. Surviving is a brother, Harris Campbell of Water Gap, and a sister, Mrs. Effie Smith, Prestonsburg. Funeral rites were conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. from the Town Branch United Bapist Church, the Revs Jack Derossett, Ashland Shepherd and L P Tussey officiating. Burial was made in the Jack Wright cemetery under the direction of Floyd Funeral Home.(End) 2. Obituary for MAUDE STEPHENS CAMPBELL (NOTE.Death Certificate says MANDY although in the index it has her listed as MINDY) MANDY nickname for MAUDE? FLOYD COUNTY TIMES 9-6-1945 MRS. CAMPBELL DIES AT HOME NEAR HERE. Mrs. Maude Stephens Campbell, 62 years old.. wife of George Campbell, died Monday at her home on Town Branch, near here, a victim of tuberculosis. She had been in ill health for more than a yer but her condition had been considere serious for only two weeks. Mrs. Campbell was a daughter of the late John and Nancy Stephens and was a devout member of the United Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband and six children: Ernest, Harrison, Ollie, and Mary Campbell all of Prestonsburg; John with the Army in the Phillipines and James in the Army stationed in Germany. Funeral rites were conducted Thursday from the Jack Wright school on Bull Creek, the Revs. C.F. Conn and Isaac Stratton and the Reverend Boyd officiating.
